Posey and Mobley plus a pick would leave them short of a point guard and even if Kidd joins them it would leave them short of a center to replace Robinson.Duncan would probably want a better frontcourt partner as compared to Bateer. I think Kandi is likely to be their 1st choice free agent.Parker is younger than Kidd and is a fairly mature player for his age and I don't see them giving him up.
Why does everyone say Posey sucks? Granted I don't catch that many Rockets games... from the ones I did get to see he brings great defense and energy plus I heard he's won us many games due to his plays late in games.
That's why the Spurs would never want him... Cuttino Mobley PLUS James Posey PLUSSSSS a pick.......HECK NO. He's not that good....you could trade those three and maybe tito maddox all for jason kidd. MAYBE........but i wouldn't trade those 2 and a pick for Parker... Tim Duncan can move to center...and Malik Rose can play power forward. They can sign Brad Miller or Kandi or Brand or Malone or Collier or anyone. It don't matter. Spurs have already won many games without Robinson...they might even win a championship without Kidd. Kidd would make it even easier.
As another Spurs fan I'm laughing too. If Parker goes it will be for a heckuva lot more than Posey. Spurs aren't interested in expensive junk like Cato, Mobley, Posey. They have their carefully laid out plan. What the Rocket's ought to do if they were smart is make a big time offer to RC Buford and Pop and get some front office talent to put together a team and have a coach who knows how to coach it. At least you don't have to deal with the salary cap that way. Think about it. Spurs recognized Parker and got him with the last pick in the draft and a couple of years earlier found Ginobili and Giricek in the second round (traded Giricek because they didn't have room for him and didn't want to screw up their cap space for next year to be able to get a max FA). Picked up Scola (currently one of the top two rated Europeans) who'll be making your lives miserable in a year or two, in the second round last year, found Steve Jackson on the scrap heap after he was cut by NJ because he couldn't/wouldn't play defense and was undisciplined and coached and disciplined him into a starter and solid player, developed Bowen into the NBAs leading three point shooter, and managed to do all this saving enough salary cap to get a max FA (Kidd?, Brand?, Germaine O'Neal?) next year. So trying to steal Pop and RC would be your best move. But as a Spurs fan I'm totally against that idea.
Well uh.....Mobley isn't expensive. But nice idea! Great coach...of course I'd rather have Donnie Nelson......who is closer to the person who taught your Croatian coch.
It sounds very good. Though Tony Parker can't shoot the high scores so far, he has the huge potential in stimulating the offense of rox. With Tony shouldering the point guard, the entire team will be more efficient than SF3 as the PG. Maybe we can trade Mobley for Parker instead of Posey regarding that F is the weakness of rox.
He doesnt really suck....he just doesnt play like a starter. He is quite similar to Shandon Anderson in that he only really receives praise for his "great defense" and he does play good D when he plays good at all. i like him, just dont like what he does with the minutes he is given
More expensive than parker and more expensive than the Spurs want to pay. Nelson sure as heck didn't teach Pop defense. Somebody else must have taught him that. One thing about the Spurs, it starts with D. You don't play solid D and you ain't gonna be getting off the bench. Period. If Francis played for Pop you can bet his D would be better or Pop'd have his azz in a sling. I'd rather have Rudy than Nelson. Only thing Nelson's got is an owner that will spend out ther wazoo and assemble a pick-up game team. Wait til the playoffs and watch 'allas get mauled.
That's a lot of talk for a team who's C is taking shots before every game just to be able to play. I think it's silly to propose this deal because the Rockets won't deal with rivals. San Antonio and Hosuton will be competing with each other next year, and besides, the Rockets don't need a 6'0 Parker runing the point. He's just not what we need. If Payton agrees to go to New Jersey and play with Kidd, then you guys are pretty screwed, wouldn't you say? You know Jermaine O'Neal isn't moving, and besides, both Duncan and O'neal don't want to play C. If the Spurs don't win it this season, then they never will. Are they paired with the Lakers for the playoffs at the moment?
I wish the Rockets were a little more careful with their salary-cap dealings. Cato/Taylor/Rice... god. Do you realize how much talent we could have with the money those bums are occupying?
Well that's partly because his strenghts aren't utlized. He is a great open court player, slasher, and finisher. Right now, our guards aren't the greatest open court players or half court passers. But he has single-handedly revived our fast break offense. It was pretty non- existant before he came. He's done a couple of fast breaks all by himself.
Yeah that's are vulnerability. What could hold us back from making a very serious run at the championship during what was felt to be a rebuilding year. Life's a bytch True plus there's nothing that Houston has that SA would want for Parker that the the Rockets would give up which is Yao. That includes Francis who SA would not want the contract for IMO. NJ couldn't offer Payton more than MLE. Doubt that would make Payton too anxious to go to NJ. I don't know who'll they get. Personnaly I'd be happy with some combination of Clark, Nesterovic, Arenas, Maggette. We could throw enough money to get two, maybe three of them for sure. Never will? Riiighhttt. I guess it's all that money to pick up talent and a developing Parker, Ginobili, and Jackson that's gonna hurt us. Prettty lame sane. Paired with the Lakers? Will have to see when the end of the season comes but personllay if DRob's back is okay bring the fLakes on and let the best team win.
Open court players are a dime a dozen and aren't worth crap in the playoffs. Thats why he didn't do crap in Denver even when he was the second option. If you can't hit an open 20 footer, you don't deserve to start in the NBA as a SF period. He is a decent enough backup but he is not the answer for any team as a starting 3 and definitely not for more than the MCE.
You are bragging because... I'll be first to admit Rudy and CD are the dumbest pieces of %$#* I ever had the displeasure of knowing, but whe did SA done that deserves me saying WOW? Tony Parker is impressive but that's the only thing I can say the Spurs did right. Even then Parker is not playing at a level that deserves me saying anything more than he's above average. Ginobili is very impressive. Oh yeah, didn't you hear? He gives you all of 6.6 points per game (not even leading among rookies). He deserves some credit but to give him any more than that is plain stupid. Stephen Jackson is one of the surprises but he doesn't deserve anything more than an raised eyebrow. Besides, w/o Duncan's double teams how many points do you think he will get? And how many open looks for 3's will Bowen get? I also find it funny how you only say the positives about SA signings/trades, what about the others? Steve Smith anyone? So you can sign another max contract, big deal, does the Spurs have a bench worth mentioning? In case you wonder, all teams can have 2 max contracts and be under the cap. And instead of coming here and troll, WHY DON'T YOU GO BACK TO YOUR OWN BOARD, or try to spell Jermaine O'Neal name right
Payton's coming off a 5 year, 50M contract. he's been to the finals, and he's been given many awards. Money is the least of his concerns. Spurs are in good shape, but this rivalry will start to even out, and the Spurs will have to beat the Rockets in the playoffs if they want to advance. Funniest thing you said though is that the Spurs wouldn't want Francis for his contract. LOL!!!
You must be a moron. Why would anybody so stupid to trade Parker for Posey? This is ridiculous. It's like trading Yao for Bradley.
Parker + Francis = 6'0" + 6'3" = getting abused on D every night If we ever move Steve to the 2 spot, we need a tall point guard who can help to guard opposing 2s. And Tony Parker is just not the answer. And Posey for Parker is really not that bad. At least we are not offering Jason Collier for Duncan.
