The guy folds under pressure faster than any other coach, maybe other than Mike Dunleyvey. I saw how his Blazers team couldn't cut it in the early 90's but saw it live when the Sacramento Kings with the world of talent could'nt beat the Lakers. They had so many chances in those 3 years to take out the Lakers but Phil Jackson outcoached him in the most important games. Adelmasn's players all (except for Bibby) were nervous just like their coach. He can take us the WCF. SO what! We want championships here in Houston. I think the Rockets management will be wise and not sign him.

LOL! We want championships? I'll take Rick Adleman if he can even take us to the second round.

His Blazer teams lost to the Pistons and Bulls. Some of the best dynasties of all time.

And his Kings teams lost to Lakers, the best dynasty of the past decade. How is it Adleman's fault that Divac mistakenly tipped the ball out to Horry.

Who exactly to you want? Red or Phil?

I agree Mike Dunleavy sucks. After watching Dunleavy seasons' in Portland and last season in Clippers, I dont want Dunleavy to be the Rockets coach.

But Rick Adelman is another case. You can say he would make suspisious call when the game is on the line. Other than that, I dont see any major flaws. His team surely is good in offense. With the right personnels, his team is good in defense too. And he plays to players' strength - always try to use the player "right".

THIS is what has been missing, and, at the risk of bring up old sh*t, this was one of Rudy T's greatest strengths. He would always try to put guys in spots on the floor where they would have the best chance to be sucessful.

I couldn't figure out why none of the current coaches had Yao face up in the Utah series...?.... He was pushed, and pushed, and pushed out of position, and no matter who was guarding him, there was always a forearm leaning into him HARD. Facing Up is the counter for the style of D Utah played against Yao, and last time I checked, his face up jumper was pretty good.
We continued to post him and let him get pushed out, and he was set up to fail. It amazes me he scored as much as he did

I'm not sold on Adelman, but it's simply because I've never followed any of his teams. The organization needs to make sure they bring in a more positive person if they decide to make a change.

Rick Adelman's Kings were one halftime 3 point shot by Samaki Walker away from winning that series.

Dick Davetta should have a ring for that one.

I wouldn't blame Adelman entirely for that loss.

That was a horribly officiated series, roughly equivalent to the 2005 Houston-Dallas series.

Adelman isn't a bad choice, but I agree that he's not my first.

I want Carlisle if we get rid of/lose JVG.

If you want Carlisle you may as well keep JVG, at least he already has a rapport with the players.

Don't forget, they had injuries to Peja & Webber throughout his time there. The WCF in '02 they almost beat the Lakers w/o Peja - he was injured.

Probably because every time he faced up he got his shot thrown right back in his face by Kirilenko and superstar shotblocker Mehmet Okur.

I have to agree. I don't understand the infatuation with Adelman. Especially with the way our team is structured, I want to see Yao do some high post as much as the next guy. But how effective will he be? Especially considering how turnover prone he has become.

I want to see yao's game stretch from low block to firing up 3 pters which he is capable of doing and did in rookie year. If yao is allowed to do that, he will kick okur's ass so badly this yr

Adelman as coach will give us less wins next year than this season and another first round exit...

Thank you Nostradamus! Why even play the NBA season? Everybody should just ask you what is going to happen.

This is very true. For those of us that remember the Portland teams, he was not able to get consistanly high performance out of his guys. That was a very talented team.

If he's facing the defenders he should be less turn over prone. Now they come from his blind spot because his back is to them. Adelman would be a great coach for this team. Yao should get to play with a great offensive coach once before he retires.

A lot of guys here are saying our roster will not work with a coach like Adelman. It was the same situation when JVG took over. We had a bunch of isolation type players that Rudy/CD brought to the Rockets. Adelman will be successful in Houston but even he can't get us far without a few more pieces at the PF and PG spots. One of these players has to be a leader a guy like a Derek Fisher or a Billups that will not fade when the pressure is on.

The writing is on the wall. Jeff has to go. He got us to the playoffs and that is the extent of his success in Houston.

It's funny.. everyone wants the perfect coach, the perfect player... and get so upset if the guys they get or are about to get end up being good but have some flaws.

My take is you find talented people where you can, unless your other option is a clear upgrade, I wouldn't complain about having a good but flawed guy.

People want to fire Gundy, trade Yao and Tracy and Battier, because they are not Phil Jackson/Red Auerbach, Shaq/Hakeem, Jordan/Kobe, and Pippen/Bird... and now Rick Adelman isn't good enough?

Who are and how do you propose the Rockets get these guys?
    =

It's like internet geeks like us talking about how "I wouldn't hit [insert female celebrity you have no chance at], because [insert flaw]."

Yeah right.. you get what you can, when you can.

ha! I make a safe assumption , meanwhile thousands of "experts" claim they know whats best for the team and call for Van Gundys head, trade TMac, trade Yao, trade Shane... hire Rudy! Mario will fix it! re-sign Mobley! sign Francis for the MLE! Can we trade for Sam Cassell?

this place is nuts, absolutely f*cking NUTS!
