25,000 were shipped and have arrived in stores , so now is the time to pick one up for the retail price of $299 , I got mine yesterday , They really designed it like a computer . ------------------ "Eat your kids, play with your dinner and join the chat" - Dr of Dunk gives a public sevice announcement at the request of Mike Tyson .
Actually, they didn't design it like a computer. That's why so many disappointing games have come out so far. It's extremely difficult to program for. My opinion on buying one, if you've waited this long (and money is a factor in your decision at all), wait until the fall/winter when X-box/Gamecube are supposed to come out and pick up one of those or pick up the PS2 then (when they drop the price to keep up with the new guys). ------------------

Will the XBox have a DVD player? ------------------ Why is Gonzaga always given a double digit seed? Just move them to the Sweet 16 where they belong and let them play from there.
DreamCast rules! Sega has the best games, no contest. if Sega makes a chip for the Xbox to allow DC games, then PS will die a slow death. ------------------
X Box will have a DVD player but you'll have to buy the remote to activate the function (this allows Microsoft to save some money on the DVD licensing fee). No one knows how much the X box is going to cost though. Game Cube won't have a DVD player, but should be fairly cheap (rumors of 149 or 199 tops). Sega's going to be making games for all of them, so they'll all have some good games. ------------------
I posted this question on one of those gamer sites but never got a response, but will the X-Box DVD Player be multi-format (play MP3's/VCD's/SVCD's)? ------------------
I have TP2002 for Playstation 1... Exactly the same as 2001, except pitching is a little more difficult, which is more realistic... It's not actually called TP2002, it's called TP Baseball... I was hoping that they would have made some more minor details... ------------------ "Awesome baby!" Dick Vitale
Uh, Moe, they've been shipping in quantities of thousands for about 1-2 months now. I went to CompUSA about 2 or 3 weeks ago and 2 stores had stacks of them. Of course they sell out as soon as they get them. Amazing that morons are still buying them for $400 on places like UBid. I got mine a couple of months ago from Sears. Woo... still playing the hell out of Tekken Tag Tournament and Madden 2001. ------------------ "It doesn't matter. Thanks Kid Rock! I'll probably get it because I sold my old TP2001. The Enron field looked horrible, to me, in the last version. I'm hoping they've upgraded it a little. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
PSJ-Enron still looks shabby... They need to put the visitor's bullpen in left center... Still missing... I just started my season with the Stros, and have only played 5 games, all at Enron... So, I'm not sure how good the stadium detail is for the other parks... One thing I wish they would do is give position players fatigue, like they do for pitchers... It would make you decide when or if to rest your players... Also, it still pisses me off how you can rarely get a double down the line, since the 1B or 3B seem to have super instincts and can catch any hard hit ball down the line... The same goes wtih OF's who are always in perfect position to catch a line drive in the gap... The computer defense is too good... One last thing that irritates me is when you get a legit base hit, yet they charge the defense with an error... Yesterday, I got 6 FOR SURE hits that counted as errors... That kills my players batting average... I do like how pitching is a lot more difficult... Last year, I was able to hit the upper and lower corners too precisely with a pitcher like Randy Johnson with a 107 mph fastball... No more 107+ mph fastballs... The max is like 97 or 98, which is much more realistic of course... ------------------ "Awesome baby!" Dick Vitale
Kidrock8: Buy High Heat baseball for the PC. It's 35x better than Triple Play... much more realistic, and it FEELS like baseball. ------------------ Boston College - Big East -East Division Regular Season Champs Worst to First in 2001!
Remember when Playstation came out and every said how bad the games sucked and N64's were way better? And I meant they Designed the Machine like a Computer , with the Power button and the CD Drive . ------------------ "Eat your kids, play with your dinner and join the chat" - Dr of Dunk gives a public sevice announcement at the request of Mike Tyson .
I've heard htat the X-box isn't supposed to be that impressive. A beta version has been reviewed, and they claimed it was underwhelming. ------------------ Boston College - Big East -East Division Regular Season Champs Worst to First in 2001!
DoD is correct. PS2's have been shipping fairly regularly to stores around the country for several months...they just go awfully quick, so you have to be quick if you want one. And I do expect the games to get a little better now that developers are finally starting to get a handle on the complex and complicated architecture. From what I've witnessed recently in the form of actual screenshots and gameplay video footage, Xbox is definitely looking a bit disappointing to me. Microsoft held its annual Gamestock show about eight days ago where they finally showed a number of exclusive games in development for the Xbox. NFL Fever, Halo, Amped (a snowboarding game), Fuzion Frenzy (a game similar to Mario Party), a racing game and a couple of adventure games were shown, and all are expected to be launch titles as well as about 20 additional games. Visually, the games looked pretty good, but not the leap that Microsoft representatives have led us to believe (they claimed that the Xbox is 3X more powerful than the PS2). The games looked PC-ish to me...whether that's good or not is just a matter of personal taste. Also, the games just didn't look like much fun to me for some reason, despite the lukewarm but somewhat positive gameplay impressions of some videogame websites. They elicited a 'been there, done that' attitude from me. I've also heard that some of the game screenshots were doctored so that they'll 'look better'. To be fair though I won't make my final judgment about Xbox until E3 in May. Check out http://www.xbox.com for more details on the games mentioned above. There were also a few complaints about the Xbox controller....too big, some awkward button and analog stick placement, etc. Plus there have been a few prominent Japanese 3rd-party companies recently who have slammed the Xbox and/or have stated that they will not develop any games for it (Square may be one of those companies, but this hasn't been confirmed; just a rumor). I think the Microsoft Xbox has a tough road ahead of it against established competitors like Sony and Nintendo. ------------------
Just wait for the GameCube. You can't beat Rareware. That company is the sole reason I will be buying a Gamecube. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
True that, ZRB. The GC is the one console that I will definitely buy (but if Metal Gear Solid 2 and Final Fantasy X stay exclusive to PS2 then I might get that too). It will undoubtedly be WAY better than the N64....and the N64 was pretty damn good too. ------------------
If i remember correctly, PS had their games out forever before N64 even came into the picture, and PS had a good line-up while N64 has yet to come out with more than like 6 good games. Now its PS2 with the sucky games so far(other than the 2 DoD mentioned). I guess they played it smart including backward compatability. They should get an influx of games soon, but what the hell is taking them so long? ------------------ snap crackle pop
The N64 is worth it just for Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. Then there's the two Zelda games. Those four are the best games I have ever played. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
Haven-I'm leary of getting cpu games... Simply because they don't seem to be as smooth... Tell me the strengths and weaknesses of that game if you have time... ------------------ "Awesome baby!" Dick Vitale
