For the slightest chance, we have to go almost undefeated for the rest of the season. And even then, we would need the Lakers to lose a few games unexpectedly. Outside of the game at Dallas, our next 13 games are theoretically winable. After that, there are three tough games left, Memphis, at Denver and San Antonio. However, if we have McGrady back for those three, they are winable. So if we go 10-3 over the next 13 without McGrady, and then win the last 3 with McGrady, then we will be 42-40, which might be good enough for the 8th spot. Of course, it will take a comeback of Astros proportions to pull it off. Still, with a win tonight and a Lakers loss tonight, we are only 3 games out.
Maybe not. (+.5 to hou) A big day, it could be in hou's favor. (+1 to hou) If sas has nothing to play for, hou could win. So another +.5 to hou. So in the end, a for hou, a for lal (-.5 out of 8th).
Well, nothing is ever certain, and I've made predictions on dozens of games here. But, in theory, we really aren't out of the race. If you'll notice, I predict that NOK and UTA are gonna fall off the face of the Earth. I don't feel we even need to concern ourselves with them. But the big problem is LAL. We need them to lose!
I dont know where u guys are getting these -.5 or -1.5 or any halves behind at the end of the season. By the end of the season everyone has played the same amount of game so there will be only whole games behind or tied. If we can just make up two games by the time we play the Lakers and then beat them it would be like a two game win because we will have the tiebreaker over them. If we can beat Utah ans Sacramento the next time as well we would own the tiebreaker against them as well.
12-4 gets us a 0.500 season. If we beat the Lakers Apr 2 in LA and end in a tie with them, that might be enough. The pessimistic view would look at our last 16 games (9-7) or our pitiful record without T-Mac and cast serious doubts on our chances. If we are allowed 4 losses from here on out, we could give: LAC 3/20 @DAL 3/21 @SAC 4/9 SAS 4/19 But would have to take care of the rest without fail: @NOH CLE SEA WAS @LAL @SEA @ POR @GSW @UTA MIN MEM @DEN Again, the Laker game is enormous if we are going to cling to any kind of hope. It's a double slam if we lose it. I'd wager our chances to be less than 20% at this point... Evan
OKay.. this is weird.... I edited my list and fixed some errors. But for some strange reason, the results just don't end up in whole numbers. I've been through it three times, and I just can't figure out where I've gone wrong.
I think you're missing some rocket games in march. Mar. 26 - Rox vs. Cavs Mar. 29 - Rox vs. Sonics Mar. 31 - Rox vs. Wiz
What the...??? (grumble).... now how in the world did that happen?.... I'll re-do it later tonight. Gotta go home.
No and No Drox, save some brain cells and have a good night of sleep. This team is not worth your effort.
4 1/2 games down and falling. The playoffs are dead to us. The draft is what's up ahead. This thread should be locked up.
if anything... if the rockets lose the next 3 games there will be a big one at the sonics for "lottery position" im rooting for them to lose bad now. if the rockets can luck out and get a decent scorer in the draft and pick up someone with the MLE we could have a giant turnaround next year. TMAC HAS TO STAY HEALTHY "FINGERS CROSSED
Feel sad . I started to lose interest in the last few days with Rocket's games. The chase is over. No playoff for Rockets this year. The bright side is that Yao plays great!
I know there were a few that said to tank the season even when we had a chance to make it. But now realistically, we have a very, very slim shot of making the playoffs. We are 4 1/2 back w/ 15 to play. We have to go 12-3 the rest of the way and expect Sacramento to go 8-8 (currently up 2-1 head-to-head with a game coming up against them) or 7-9 in order to make the playoffs. Plus we have to pass up two other teams who are 1-2 games behind the 8th spot. Head-to-head w/ Utah is 1-1 with one upcoming to play. Head-to-head w/ NOK is 0-3. Just forget about the playoff possibilities and move on. There are some quality players in this draft that can help this team out. Now that's what we should be talking about.
