with news now that things may not work out, or at least its not 100%, what do we do? im sure we are close in getting ming but what if in the next couple of days the chinese say that they dont want ming to leave the country? will we get and old ming like the blazers with sabonis? i think that things with ming are allready risky. he is well worth the risk, but if it becomes any more difficult to get him and keep him i think we may have to trade the pick. so just incase we need to trade it, what do you tihnk is out there for us? what i have heard: #1 for jamison and #3. we can add rice since they are looking for shooting. draft a big man at 15 cato-griff-amere? moT-kt-collier jamison-Tmo or #1 for odom #8 #12 cato-borchardt-amere moT-griff-collier odom-rice-kt-Tmo i dont know were we can unload some of these front court players in this trade. thoughts?
According to past articles I have read, the Rockets are still high on Dunleavy if Yao falls through. From today's ESPN Insider... Mike Dunleavy -- We're not sure whether he can actually play basketball in the NBA, but the kid could be a CEO in marketing. While other top players are killing themselves in daily team workouts, Dunleavy is hanging out in Durham, shooting an occasional jumper, playing coy on good days, lifting his skirt just a little when it gets a little cloudy. Is he in or is he out? No one knows, but with all the attention he's generated (both the Grizzlies and the Warriors came to him this weekend) you have to believe he's figured out how to make this process as painless as possible. Dunleavy's stock is as high as ever for doing the very things most teams say they hate. He's indecisive, uncooperative and in control . . . and the Rockets are still pondering whether to take him No. 1. Go figure. I would think the Rox would explore trade possibilities before taking Dunleavy but who knows...
assuming we do trade the pick (but would really like to get Ming) I think the trade with Odom would be a better fit for us.. Honestly I think Mobley blurted out our back up plan when he he said that on the Greatest Sports Show.. getting Odom and being able to dump rice would seal it for me. and plus having two Lottory picks in this year's draft is an excellent pick up for us aswell but I hope the Rockets wouldn't Draft Dunleavy at #1.. I heard this as another option.. not that I don't like him.. I just don't feel he's a number one pick..
What news are you refering to? If it is that Chi article, that is just recycled old news. I think the fact that the governement and the CBA officials wanted the lawyer ( Mr. Goldberg) to come back immediately is a great sign! The Chinese are very organized and are very shrewd ( in business ). Deal in a professional, honorable way and they will respect you and know that they can do business with you. It appears that the only thing they really want is for Ming to be avaiable to play for the national team ( which plays its games during the NBA offseason ). They also want a little coaching and player development from the Rockets...no problem there. We could be the primary pipeline for funneling talent from China to the NBA. As for plan B.... trade the pick for the best offer you can get. I really do not think Odom is worth a number 1 pick though. I say plan B should be: Houston sends #1 , KT, Cato to Atlanta ( and whatever else was needed to make the deal good under the salary cap) Atlanta sends Theo Ratliff, Shareef Abdul Rahim to Houston I still prefer to get Ming but that would not be a bad trade as a plan B.
Well, I am not saying that they would but if we are going to trade then make it a good one. I feel the number 1 pick would be the crown jewel of the trade. Atl can move some salary and be able to draft JWill or Ming. I just don't feel that Odom + additional picks are enough. Now the GS one with Jamison + #3 for our #1 + whoever would work under the salary cap, is very interesting. I would only consider a trade of any type if the Ming negotiations went south. Which there are no implications of that happening currently.
You mean Chicago actually wrote an article about how the Rockets won't be able to get Ming? Really? That is so shocking to me.
