Give me a break! Pippen was never even the best player on his team - not in Chicago - Jordan & Rodman, Not in Houston - Olajuwon & Barkley, Not in Portland - Wallace & about 5 others... Even when Jordan retired, Phil Jackson went to Tony K. for the last second shot against the Knicks in the playoffs.

Sorry, no sympathy here - I was a Laker fan when they were playing the Blazers for the simple fact I didn't want Pippen to get another ring after he trashed Houston and Barkley.

With all that money he should have enough to get a nose job!

Whatever. Rudy's system was fine, in fact he's the only coach to bring a Championship to Houston in the 3 major sports...

By the way, I think you accidentally switched the 0 and the 6 in your signature... or maybe you meant The Denver Chicken McNuggets will make the playoffs in 2006

    Jordan and Rodman, LOL.

He was better than Olajuwon and Barkley only seemed to play better because the system was made for him to post up and hog the ball leaving Pippen to spot up. The Kukoc bit, its one freaking shot, newsflash maybe he drew it up for Kukoc because they would be looking for Pippen to take the last shot so Phil wanted to throw them off. Phil wasn't perfect either, coaches don't always make all the right calls in a game.

Regardless he has 6 more rings than Barkley will ever have, Barkley chooses to ignore him these days.

    NEWBIE.

To be a Pippen only Fan wouldn't I have had to become a Rockets fan simply because of him, I liked Pippen since his Bulls days and I liked the Rockets since I can remember.

Too bad it couldn't work out.
That year was sheer bliss for me.

Yeah, and then Pippen threw a temper tantrum and faked a migraine and sat out the last play because the shot wasn't drawn up for him. Class act.

Also - if the system was what kept Pippen from succeeding on offense - explain his defensive ineptitude.

He had back surgery the off season before, it took him a year or 2 to get fully healthy and he was a bit older by then but he did improve his play in Portland.

I guess overall I would agree with Pippen about the play not being called for him, I'd chalk it up to the heat of the moment type deal.

He has 6 more rings that Barkley B/C he was in the right place at the right time - If I'm correct, Horry has just as many rings - no disrespect to him by comparing him to Pippen, but at least he didn't DIS H-town - just Danny Ainge.

Phil knew enough not to put the ball in Pippen's hands in the last 2 seconds of the most important game of the season for the Bulls that year.

Dude, what the hell did I do? Personally, I agree with all Rockets fans on this thread. I'm not sure why I'm the one getting attacked.

BTW, chicken Nuggets smack? Come on bro, at least get original.

There is no basis to comparing Pippen and Horry. I'd hardly say Pippen was in the right place and the right time, he made it the right place and the right time.

Horry, Kerr and many others would fit into your right place right time theory but not Pippen.

    Nuggets4,
This has nothing to do with the post, but I was wondering if you knew when Nuggets tickets go on sale. I'm in Dtown for awhile, hoping to catch the Rockets when they come to the Pepsi Center.

Yeah, MJ did everything for Scottie. That's why Scottie took the Bulls further alone than MJ ever did, even though Mike retired and was replaced by Harper and a rookie (Kukoc). That's why Scottie got back to the WCF post MJ.

Scottie didn't work here because Rudy turned him into a spot up, 3-point shooting SF. Robert Horry he is not....

You guys can give MJ all the credit for Scottie, even though reality shows us that Pippen had much more success once the due was split up than MJ ever did. :)

Give Pippen his props. Best SF of his era (when they were winning titles), arguably the best defensive SF ever and a big game player.

Oh, and MJ drawing 3-4 defenders doesn't highlight Pippen's best contribution, which was defensively. I guess it was MJ that checked Magic, Drexler and those PG's in the Pacers series. I guess it was MJ roaming and disrupting the Jazz offense in both Finals....

Pippen was exactly in the right place at the right time - Pippen Championships with MJ - 6, Pippen championships w/o MJ - 0, need I say more?

That is a very good question. I'll try to find out. I had an e-mail with the info, but can't find it. I'll check some of the Nugs boards.

Pippen got further alone than Mj ever did as Ihouse pointed out.

How many titles did Mj win without Pippen?

Perhaps it's for the best that Quitten didn't deliver for the Rockets. Can you imagine how big of an asterisk Houston's championships would be given if a third one was again immediately won after another Jordan retirement?

That's a valid point (sarcasm). Pippen played with Barkley and Olajuwon & was on a Blazers team was the deepest team in the league - Wallace, Stoudamire, Randolph, Anderson, Davis & Sabonis - Jordan played with Kwame Brown (not be be confused with the runner up from The Apprentice) and Christian Laettner (who layed his best basketball at Duke). Jordan came back to try and trai n the younger players...Pippen a la Phil Jackson went to the best available team closest to winning a Championship. To compare the two is insane. Pippen although a very talented player is a jerk 1) by quitting on the Bulls when they didn't call the play for him in the last 2 seconds vs, the Knicks and then 2) quitting on Houston and insulting a friend (Barkley) on his way out of town. Pippen is a real class act.. isn't he?:D
