Just a thought about our PG dilemma

We have an overloaded PF position with Weatherspoon, Mo, Padgett and Howard

    Weatherspoon @ 5.9 mil
    Mo @ 8.45 mil
    Howard @ 5.4 mil

We have overloaded PG with Sura, Lue and Ward

    Lue @ 1.65 mil
    Ward @ 1.2 mil ???

    Can we get Ray Allen?
    (29 ys old) 20-5-5- @ 14.65 mil

Mo + Spoon + Lue or Ward for Ray Allen

Sonics have could use a backup PF in the likes of Mo 12.5- 5.5
    to backup Rasheed Lewis 24.5-5
Sonics backup Forwards are weak, little depth
    Danny Forston at 3.9 – 4.5
    Reggie Evans at 2.0 – 6.0

They also get two PGs (injury free) that they can rely on than Ray Allen who played just 56 games last year plus Mo and Spoon’s offense can make the difference.

In the end we need a guy like Ray Allen to get the ball to Mcgrady and Yao. He had 5 assists last year and hit the 3 40% from the arc. Sonics don’t utilize this guy for all of his potential. He belongs to a team like ours to run the offense for 2 superstars. He is a big fat waste in Seattle.
With Allen we have 2 solid PGs Sura as backup.
Our PF situation will be more efficient with Howard and Padgett. None of our positions will be overloaded.

We will have 4 solid core starters
    Allen
    Yao
    T-mac
    JJ

I doubt this trade will go thru but what a great dream if CD was able to sucker Sund to make it happen.

If this deal is a bust what other solid PGs can we get from our situation (dilemma) with 4 PFs (1 overpriced) and 2 substandard PGs and 1 injury prone PG (which we need to keep)?

hahahhaha you want to trade mo taylor, weatherspoon and lue for ray allen?

talk about a pipedream. You should step back and look at what you wrote and you'll see how lopsided that deal is. Ray Allen is a superstar. Mo Taylor thinks he's a superstar. Spoon is washed up and is way overpaid and lue is an average PG.

since this is a fantasy thread, might as well trade reece gaines for KG cause sam cassell's washed up and they need the help

What a lot of people ignore in these trade idea threads is the fact that there's SO much more to trades than just salaries matching up. You gotta factor in talent, ticket sales, marketing, team morale, etc. People always put the math down and stamp it off with "Trade Accepted" (though I'll give you credit, at least you didn't write that) without looking at the big picture.

Hey you name a good PG in that calibre to entertain our thoughts

becus what we have now is garbage,

Lue is too short to get a pass off to Ming without it being deflected out of bounds and Ward can't throw a timely lob without it touching both hands of the defender in front of him.

I'm open to any ideas to alleviate our overbloated positions at PF and Subpar PG.

More like Mo or Howard for Ronald Murray.

We are not going to get a star calliber point guard for this team unless we trade Yao or T-Mac and that isn't going to happen. We will have to make due until Sura gets back and hope he is the solution. If not, we'll go into the offseason with that as a priority.

Allen is going to be an unrestricted FA next season (2005). This guy is pushing into his 30s, has not been part of a title contender like the team we're building (T-Mac is much younger he bolted so that he could get the rings). Getting old with no rings on his fingers is the motivation we need to get him here to H-Town and complete that triangle core that we've should have done this off season.
IF CD has to get his people to Seattle to have a talk or persuasion with Allen to come to houston than do it. Force the issue with the sonics to trade him or they will lose him to free agency.

Reports say he may bolt rather than signing back with the sonics. The sonics are not willing to put key pieces to make a championship run.
He wnats to be part of a title contender.

Who would be better out there than us if he chooses to not resign with Seattle? Fisher, Barry, are gone, what is left for us to get that solid PG that will accompany us to the title years?

I want Antonio Daniels. He is a free agent after this season, maybe we throw Seattle a Lue/2nd round pick or part of TE.

A couple of weeks ago, he was pretty vocal about wanting a 5 year 100+ million dollar extension from the Sonics. Doesn't sound like he's too interested in forcing his way to a contender.

I know a certain 4th stringer who had a heck of a game for Milwaukee the other night. He sits behind injured TJ Ford, injured Mike James, and Eric Strickland. It was Maurice Williams who had 10pts 9asts 5rebs and 1stl...He also had 3TO but that is fine because he handled the ball well enough...I would keep an eye on him over the next 3 or 4 weeks just to see if he is for real.

That sounds more realistic than trying to get Allen...

Take off your Rockets-colored glasses for just a minute. You characterized our PGs as garbage, and you know Mo Taylor and Weatherspoon are little better. They do not have expiring contracts and therefore have negative value to the Sonics. Sure the Sonics would like to get something for Allen, but we don't have anything to offer that they'd want (other than Yao and T-Mac). If you're the Sonics GM, would you take on Mo Taylor's three-year contract, garbage players in Spoon and Ward/Lue or would you let Allen walk? Come on.

If you want Allen, figure out how to get him to sign with us for the MLE. That's extremely unlikely, but stilll more plausible than what you're proposing.
