It’s not obvious, but it wasn’t very cold that day.

It was distracting though. Imagine Steve and Cuttino having to deal with someone waving a sawed off anchovy in their face while they worked!

To Be exact Opee, it was 30C that particular day and I am sure CP will take the sawed off anchovy analogy as a compliment, most of time people mention Brine Shrimp!!!

Back to the discussion on the pick and roll.

Since Mobley can beat the trap, but Francis can't, is this a situation where Mobley may be better suited to PG than SG? Maybe he should have the ball in his hands more and Franchise should be the scorer off the ball.

Semantics, I know since they are usually both on the court together, but Mobley has been PG for this team before. What is to say that he might not be better suited to be the PG longterm than Steve?

Well, it is more than semantics,IMHO.

The Point Guard is the man that makes the decisions. The guy that does that usually has the ball in his hands, and dictates the attack, then develops the steps of the startegy to accomplish just that the scoring focus.

IMHO, and RT's too I would assume, Francis is a far better decision maker in that capacity than Cuttino.

Cuttino is not one dimensional, but his forte is the iso and penetration. He excells in that and Francis is quick to give him the team awards as far as those aspects go. However Francis, because he carries the ball so often also is the magnet for far more criticism if the offensive attack fails. In truth, head to head and given the same number of possessions (and length of time), I will bet my year's salary Mobes' turnovers would be double Steve's.

Mobes lack of "seeing" the other teammates may leave him affectionately a little shy of the "Ballhog" tag by Rocket fans ... but not by much. A nicely as I can say it: He clearly likes his chances at scoring better than involving his team by passing off.

Also, Mobes is far more effective when Francis is feeding him the ball. On the other hand Steve's effectiveness does not rise or fall appreciably on his passer.

They both move every well without the ball.

    So to recap:

    Decison Making Ability: Advantage Steve
    Effectiveness in Distribution: Advantage Steve
    Offset Movement: Even
Shooting ability: Slight advantage to Cuttino
    Isolation and Posts: Advantage Cuttino

Everything dicates that Steve should be the point guard and Cuttino be the off guard.
