I love Rudy (maybe I should say used to love) but his latest 610 show just added to my proof of the disconnect I feared he is suffereing right now (not to mention the alleged "I told them to foul" lie). Though I am almost certain that Rudy will not be canned in-season, I nevertheless forwarded my petition in order to help any little way to facilitate in shake-up RIGHT NOW (be it mentality change or personel change). If you really believe that patience is all we need then I afraid to inform you are setting yourself up for emotion rape and abuse of the second degree. A change of some sort is inevitable. I hear people make silly excuses for this team and coach based on wins and loses (overall record) but my problem with this team is just about the simplest thing - PLAYING BASKETBALL THE RIGHT WAY. I am a frustrated fan because of out team's stupid and dumb way of playing basketball. Maybe I am different around here but my problem is not really missing the playoffs (wins and losses) but the crap I am forced to watch everyother game. It is just like they just don't care about this team's ultimate health. I love this team but I can't stand them. They may win their next 2 games amd many fish-brain fans with start singing hallelujah but not me - I want to see a sustaining change - a change for the better - A real team ball, and good smart high energy basketball. Something is definitely wrong somewhere and I hope something gets done in time.
I do. The only way CD leaves is if Les fires him or if he just gets tired and wants to retire. If Rudy gets canned CD does not betray Rudy's friendship by staying put. Both CD and Rudy are professionals and they both know this is a business. Having said that no one will ever see my name on a petition to fire Rudy T in the middle of a season. Absolutely nothing is gained from firing Rudy in the middle of the season. Rudy deserves a chance to finish out the season and get this team on the right track.

I've posted this on numerous occassions when it has come up in the past, but I'll do it again for the sake of this argument. Rudy has stated in numerous interviews that he has ZERO interest in working the phones for trades or going back to scouting (talk about a step down anyway). He said in one interview, (paraphrasing) "I don't know how CD does it. I don't have the patience for it." He has also stated that, if he were let go by Houston for whatever reason, he would pursue another head coaching job in the NBA because he still has the passion for that job. I don't know where everyone gets the idea that a guy who is considered one of the best coaches in the NBA by many people would simply drop out of coaching at a relatively young age to take over a personnel job for the team that would have supposedly fired him. I can guarantee you that teams would line up outside his door to hire him as a coach. So, forget the "he can work in management" stuff with Rudy. He's a coach, not a GM.
Ok, enough of this. You are suggesting that a guy with ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO DO IT lied to the media. You are also suggesting that Steve Francis is a liar because he said that we were supposed to foul and didn't. No one has disputed Rudy's claim and, believe me, if he had lied, we would already know all about it. To suggest something like this is ridiculous, so, just stop.
Jeff: What's even more ridiculous is that people suggest that Rudy drop out of coaching, to take CD's job! If Rudy were to move to the front office, what would CD do? Hello? THAT'S CD'S JOB!!
Rudy can do tv color. Rudy can do public relations. Rudy can't coach to save his life. I don't really care what token job they give RT. CD was and has always been the better man. He coached Hakeem to the titles, don't kid youselves. CD never wanted the top title. he let RT front. CD is a good front office man and can work well with others. NOT RT. I'd love to keep CD and boot RT. I don't see any reason for CD to move just 'cause RT does. But if so...eh. GMs can be had.
CD didn't turn down the job. He was never offered the job. Read up on your history. Steve Patterson never offered CD the coaching job. He went straight to Rudy and was going to give the job to former Rockets' coach Tom Nissalke if Rudy didn't take it.
Jeff That is why I used the word "alleged". You know how it work around here - even if you were eventually found NOT GUILTY, once you have been charge with a crime e.g. Murder or assault, it somehow stays with you. Though this case is not a crime, it just shows you where Rudy T is now in relation to his coaching and handling of this team. To those amuzingly trying to down grade the power of a petition such as this, I am afraid you may not fully understand the power of a medium like this. Take for example the Eddy Griffin trade rumour - 2 weeks or so ago Bill Worrel and Calvin Murphy (Rocket TV commetators) mentioned that a rumour that was generated on the internet had filtered through and that Eddy was bothered by the news. Ironically Eddy has shown a little bit of improvement since the rumour mill roled by. I bet you the rumour was generated by just another internet head like myself (probably on this forum) but it somehow took a life of its own and filtered through to the Rockets organization and Eddy Griffin. We live in a dynamic world filled with spin doctoring and PR pushers - and fans have never been stronger and more influencial than before thanks to freedom of speech and of course the oft underrated internet. Well lets see how things shake up in the next few days/months. I hope that the majority of the fans get a good deal when it is all said and done.
Who exactly "charged him" with lying? ONE POSTER on this BBS suggested it. No one in the media said it. None of the players said it. Just because someone posted it here doesn't make it fact. Hey, did you know that CD eats babies. It must be true because I posted it here on the BBS! And how exactly does it show where Rudy T is if one poster on the BBS alleges that he lied to the media about a called play at the end of the game? It shows absolutely nothing.
Things I don't buy-- 1) The Rockets are young argument- Cat is 27, Steve 25, Yao 22. These are the three top scorers on the team, and even though Yao is young, he plays way past his years already. The people who are supposed to be leading this team are simply not doing it, they have the age and experience to do it. 2) The Rudy sucks argument- Rudy doesn't suck he just has to start realizing that he's going to have to get hard on these guys. He can do it I just don't think he wants to be mean after all the great games these guys have had this year. However, he is the heart and soul of this team right now, because no one player wants to step up into a leadership role and make the other players play their part. He is the glue that is keeping these guys spirits up, however, the coach can't get out on the court and lead. The problem stems from Steve not consistently stepping up and saying that he is the man and things will run around him. Its up to him to make everybody play better, to get the bench playing better, Yao, and to maybe get Cat's head out of his rear. It's time some player finally took control of this team.

for the love of god, that is absolutely horrible and wrong. i cant believe that in this day and age there are still people who eat babies. i mean, the 80's were a crazy time and we all had our share of babies, but in this day and age you would think that people would have come around to realize that eating babies is just plain WRONG! i have heard nothing about this baby eating buisness, but if jeff on the internet says its true than it must be. why would he make something like that up? i think that if CD does not stop this baby eating than we should take this to the local media and try to get him fired. by the way, did yall hear that francis and mobley are gay and that yao has a fetish for hamsters (i hear him and richard gere are good friends)?
