Keep the faith. No need for petitions here.

I don't have any problem with R-R-U's 'petition'. Not that I agree a coaching change needs to be made at this juncture, but I'm not going to criticize his stance. There are MANY people who would opine that Rudy is not the coach to steer the proverbial ship at this point. To equate his outspoken distaste for the current regime with not being a 'fan' is ludicrous. Of course, the word 'fan' derives from 'fanatic', meaning unreasonably enthusiastic or overly zealous. It does not mean, however, that one must unconditionally accept the current state of a team without being able to criticize or suggest change. Maybe R-R-U's way to communicate his disdain is to make it public beyond local call-in shows and a bbs. That's his choice. I don't see anything objectively egregious about it. I think we all have a timetable in our minds about the length of rope we are willing to give Rudy. It sounds like R-R-U has reached the end of his. Simple as that.

RRUs: I respect your opinion. I disagree. I'll just leave it at that.

I've been stuck on about 15 emails since yesterday. So, I'm making one last request for emails. Please send them to jgatllin@houston.rr.com - and I will forward whatever I have to local press this evening or tomorrow morning.

Without at least a few more names we probably won't get even a brief mention, but if that's the consensus of the board, then so be it.

I think someone sent me an infected email and it caused some problems. Sorry if you and others have not been able to reach me. I think that I have fixed the problem. If you're trying to email me, then please go ahead and try again.

Also, an alternate email for me is jgatlin@myaetherbb.com. Its a wireless email that I use for business.

    Dude-

This petition stuff is getting pretty lame. You act like all the Rockets Fans on this BBS absolutely hate Rudy, when thats not really the case. Rudy has always been more of a hands off coach, which has worked to his advantage. He just needs to realize now that he has guys that are completely out of control, i.e. Mobley, who is becoming dumber and dumberer every game. MAybe we should make a Hey Rudy It's Time to start punching Mobley to Pass the ball petition. I don't buy all this crap about them being young, chinese, or anything else like that. They won 43 games 2 years ago with much of the same lineup, and now they are turning into another lottery team. They just need to play with heart again, like they actually care. Thats why they dont beat crap teams, their just too damn lax.

I don't hate Rudy. I just don't want him to be Rox coach any more. You and other Rudy supporters should not take this call for his head too personally.

how about holding off on this petition idea till the end of the season. if we dont make the playoffs again im sure you will have much more support.

im totally against firing him right now. that is basically an admission of throwing in the towel for the season, which we shouldnt do yet. i dont care if we resurrected jesus and brought him into coach. we still wouldnt be any better and it wouldnt give us a better chance of getting into the playoffs this year.

if it happens, its got to be in the off season, when a guy can come in and have time to implement his system and give the players time to adjust to and learn to play his style. this should not be done during the regular season.

were not quite as bad as the grizzlies, hawks or cavs, who all fired their coaches this year (and yes, im aware of the fact that all 3 teams have beat us).

If there was any doubt as to whether you had a clue, this clearly removed it. You are sad.

If that wasn't enough, you post an article from the HOMETOWN PAPER, predicting the Rockets to finish 8th in the West. Aside from the obvious fact that the HOMETOWN paper would obviously be a little biased to the HOMETOWN team, what's REALLY funny about that is that THE ROCKETS ARE IN THE 8TH SPOT RIGHT NOW. This article for some reason is supposed to support your claims. Hey everyone, the Rockets are in the exact same spot that the Chronicle predicted them to be in at the start of the season...let's start a petition to get a city legend fired!!

By the way...do you use Les Alexander for all your NBA analysis? Most people I know laughed when he called the Rockets one of the greatest teams ever assembled (gee, I wonder if the owner could ever have motivations for making a statement like that...hmmmm)...apparently you took it seriously. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Good luck with your 'petition'.

I rarely do this, but here are some of my comments from another thread:

Does anyone actually think that CD would stay if his buddy got fired? Wishful thinking. In one fell swoop, you would be doing so much damage to one organization. Yeah, get rid of Rudy, get rid of CD...get rid of everything players and other front offices like about this organization. Say goodbye to the times when players actually wanted to come to Houston, of all places, for LESS MONEY. Say goodbye to the diamond-in-the-rough drafts, the Mobleys, Cassells, Horrys, Kenny Thomases, etc. Better yet, do it right before we move into a brand new arena. That's right, kick a legend to the curb right then. Thanks for all you've done Rudy, thanks for the past 30+ years, thanks for dedicating most of your life to bettering this organization, but we don't want you to hang around when we move into the building that YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR DELIVERING TO US. Smart move. Luckily I don't think Les thinks the way a lot of you clowns do. He realizes how much money Rudy has made him.

To TheFreak - Take a pill!

The use of chron material was to highlight that most of the Rox organization stated that anything less than making the playoffs would be a failure on their part. Local media agreed. (There were many analysts and broadcasters who agreed with this!)

I'm sure I could also dig up some old ESPN / FOX Sports and NBC stuff, but I don't believe I have to continuously make the case when it seems like a very healthy per centage of posters agree with the petition.

Oh, and as for your dingbat statement that we would "lose Rudy and CD", the petition includes the following sentence:

So, if he stays Head of Personnel, CD wouldn't go anywhere!!

You object to my claim that I included that the Rox have more talent than "almost" any other team, so you offer an infantile response that once again indicates your lack of knowledge and maturity.

How many GM's do you think would keep their ENTIRE ROSTER over what the Rox have:

    L.A. - Yes
    Sac. - Yes
    Dallas - Yes
    S.A. - Yes

    Minnesota - Uh, No!
    Phoenix - No
    Utah - Please!

Everyone else in the West and in the Eastern Conf accept for Nets and Pacers - NO!

Re: 7 out of 27 teams MIGHT have overall better talent and potential. So, maybe I stretched just a little. If you think I was that far off-base then you have even less of a clue than you think I do!!

They'll give up their rosters for our youth...understand the implications of that word?
