Micheal Ray Richardson, a couch of a CBA team in Albany, was recently banned from pretty much American basketball for these comments: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...?slug=aw-richardson032807&prov=yhoo&type=lgns I'm not going to say whether I think this is anti-semiticism or not yet - I'll wait a few days at least so my views don't impact people because of the nature of my posts tend to invoke strong reactions outside the discussion.
Well, there was suppose to be a poll but i clicked submit too soon. Anyway, here's what it should have been: The comments made by Richardson are: 1. Definitively Anti-Semetic 2. Nothing more then a rational stereotype - it's PC to bash the guy 3. Don't Know / Not sure / other Also, I didn't mention the anti-gay comment to keep things simple for now.
It was definitely antisemitic. It was also a mistake, I beleive. The guy deserves to be criticized, not ostracized.
Why don't we call this racism instead of anti-Semitism? If someone discriminate an African American, Chinese American, an Indian American and so on, you call it racism. Why don't we need a specific term for Jewish Americans?
Because, as you know, Jews control the world, so we need a special term for people who hate us as opposed to others.
I think if Jewish Americans are really care about anti-Semitism, they should avoid using that term and use racism instead. By blending in like this, they won't single out themselves.
It is a stereotype. But he wasn't negative towards Jews in general, he said it is a good thing they control everything etc. I do not agree with him, but i also do not think it was so terrible what he said.
Invoke strong reactions? ROFL. Stop using the flattering terms to boost your low self-esteem. People bash you because your posts are generally moronic and hypocratic. Use your brain to start thinking.
We don't want to "blend in." At least I don't. And what do you mean by "if Jewish Americans are really care about anti-Semitism?" Are you implying that we don't care? Is this another part of the Zionist conspiracy in which you have claimed to beleive in previous posts?
Perhaps because being Jewish is not just a racial thing, but a religious one as well. People who hate Jews don't like people that convert to Judaism, they hate any Jews. We shouldn't use the term Anti-Semitism because it was made up to make it more PC to hate Jews (prior to this term, it was just called Jew-hatred), and because it is not terribly accurate, as there are many semitic people who are not Jews. You think it is bad that Jews control everything?
Goodie! I get put the Family Guy video again. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bMLAvGouvK0"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bMLAvGouvK0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
i dont think its anything to freak out about and you definitely cannot say he is a anti-semite. I dont sense any hate for them by reading that. hell, if you want to be honest about it he makes some good points. Im sure if someone recorded and printed everything you said on paper you could be made to look bad as well its just more of the pussification of america.
When was last time anybody got banned from anything, for saying anything about Chinese, Indians or any minority or majority group, other than Jewish people or African Americans? Can anyone give me any example? Of course, it's possible that except for commenting on Jewish people or African Americans, everyone in US has never said anything stereotype or racial against any other ethnic group in the history. Be his comments right or wrong, where is the hatred or the "anti" part?
Didn't Einstein get punked by the NBA for snorkin' coke? If anything, MRR's comment are PRO-Semitism. Since when is "crafty" a pejorative?
its because Dvaid Stern is Jewish Serisouly though, stereotypes in general are something I'd rather do without. in Michael's defense, he seems to stereotype everyone into a niche he feels comfortable with, not just Jewish people.
I believe in Israel lobby. But the majority of Jewish Americans are not part of it. Majority of Jewish Americans are liberals like me.
