Ok...I know I am in a high tech field but I just started paying bills online. OH MY GAWD !! How easy is this????? I have been using check and stamps for 20 years and now I just have to type in a number.....and it goes.... Anyone else amazed at this like I am.... I can't wait for my next bill. DD
I am hereby billing you for the 10 seconds it took me to read your post. Please send me an email with your account information so I can help myself. Thank you.
Paying bills online is awesome. I feel bad for my parents, all those years of sorting through all that paper work, stamps, envelops and such, when I just have to click a few buttons and be done with it. Ain't technology grande?
I just remembered to do it as well. Bill paying sux, but doing it online is easy. Now, if I could just bring myself to sign up for PayPal...
PayPal has not caused me any problems at all in the 2 years or so i have used it. Just be sure to make payments with a credit card so you can dispute bad charges if they occur for some reason.
For some reason I only pay about 1/2 my bills on line. I don't know why I don't pay all of them that way.
So no body here's concerned at all about the risks and stuff. I mean i pay bills and buys stuff online if its cheap, but my cc (being a college student) limit is 500. So no one's afraid of a keystroke haunting trojan that can record all your data. I like the technology, but I wish I feel safer behind my physical firewall, zone alarm and av, but I guess I'm just paranoid.
The only check I've written in the past few years on a consistent basis is for my rent. Everything else I do through MS Money/online bill pay. Down with stamps and checks and stuff!!
Dont worry about your credit card. The consumer protection law on credit cards rock. If someone steals you info and maxes it out, the most you can possibly be liable for is $50 and if you report it quickly its nothing.
I've been paying my bills online for at least 3yrs, it's the best. I used to use www.usps.com and they were great, about 6$ a month. I've since switched to my bank's free bill pay (Bank of America). They are a little slower but free and they have almost every company already listed in their database. I've tried to convince others and they are scared of online bill paying... Damn it saves me hours per month.
I pay all my bills I can via credit card. I get frequent flyer miles (works out about 1.5% return) though I am switching to a Fidelity 529 plan card than gets 2% back on all purchases put into it for my 5 week old's college fund. The bills I a cannot automatically pay with a credit card I pay with automatic debit. I do some periodic electronic transfers and buy stuff using pay pall or merchants secure sites, but otherwise don't see the rationale for E-bill/online check writing when most bills can just be set up automatically (again via credit card my 1st choice/from checking 2nd) so you just write that check to pay off the credit card each month and maximize my cash back.
I pay almost everything online. The only thing I don't pay for online (or with my debit card) is pizza and rent.
Welcome to 2004. BTW, if you really can't wait for your next bill, I'll be glad to send you a few of mine.
I've been paying bills online for 3 years. The first two years in Austin were easy and without problems. However, since I moved to Houston, I've had nothing but trouble with companies "claiming" they're not receiving my online bill payments and forcing me to fork over a real check.
