there goes the rest of my night.... never listened to too much of his stuff but to say he had an amazing voice is an understatement. RIP
Wow. This makes me very, very sad. Easily one of the greatest (and one of my favorite) singers ever. Period. Rest in peace, Luciano.
Very sad, but the man abused his body beyond most human endurance. Heard tales of him eating an entire 1/4 sheet birthday cake by himself while backstage between scenes. He also drank considerably, according to people who've worked with him. An amazing voice in his youth, he is definitely a legend in the world of opera.
wow that dude was hardcore then, i didn't know about the cake eating. I'm surprised he lived until 71. R.I.P.
Man he's all over the news since early in the AM. Sad day for the opera world. My dad listened to some of his stuff so he must be sad. RIP to the Jerry West/Michael Jordan of Opera.
JERRY: Uh.. one of the three tenors. ELAINE: (Interested) The Three Tenors? (Stands up) Which one?! JERRY: Uh.. It's not Poverotti.. It's not Domingo.. ELAINE: (Extremely excited) The other guy?! JERRY: (Nodding) Yeah, the other guy. ELAINE: (Screams out in joy) My God! I can't believe the other guy's going to be on the show! JERRY: Why? ELAINE: Because I ruined this autographed picture of him that belonged to the Maestro. You think I can go and get his autograph? JERRY: Why not? ELAINE: (Extremely giddy) Wow! The other guy! RIP
Yeah, when I heard, a few months back, that he had pancreatic cancer, I knew this was coming. Nobody survives pancreatic cancer (about a 1% survival rate within 5 years of diagnosis). He could sing.
