Go listen to the podcast it talks about this stuff, they wanted to get Patterson some practice time with the big club. DD
Maybe Ish gets sent down considering he was just pulled from the rotation. Not sure how much burn PP is gonna get. Would love to see him and Hill on the floor at the same time just to see what they can do (tank!!!!).
calm down. Josh Smith is a freak of athleticism. Patterson is more of a Ron Artest when it comes to leaping ability.
This is kind of irrelevant to the thread, but I've noticed your sig a few times, and that is an even worse group of role playing, non stars than we have now! Why would THAT be our dream lineup for next year?
I doubt it because Hill is needed at the 5 sometimes. I'd rather see PP at the 3 guarding some wing players
I got the opportunity to watch Patrick play against the Toro’s two weeks ago. I love seeing basketball in person; you get such a better perspective. Patrick is a big body, really strong, wide, and very quick and explosive for a big guy. Of course this was against NBDL competition but he looked much more physical than anyone else on the floor. He has a really active motor, always moving. You could definitely see he’s still figuring out where to be on the court both offensively and defensively. However there was no lack of effort and intensity. I think once he gets comfortable with the NBA game he’s going to be a very good player. cmiller
Point of view I guess, I see Rubio/Kanter as a potential stars in this league. Green is 18-7-2 guy who plays good defensive, his problem is that OKC plays him out of position at the 4. Gasol is flourishing center in this league, good passer, above average rebounder and a good post game along with an interior presence in the middle, you give him more touches he is an 18-10 who plays defense. That lineup would be long, athletic and fun to watch and also probably a pipedream but IMHO something to consider.
Not to get off topic.. I'm not sold on Green's ability to play the three. I'm not sure OKC is either. He seems to be the definition of a tweener.. I'm not sure I'd want him as my starting SF. I love Gasol and would definitely be in favor of signing him if we could. However, I assume Memphis isn't dumb and he'll be a RFA? I'm not sure, but it would probably be tough to pry away. If we draft Kanter, he better damn well be better than our 3rd and 2nd string! I really love Terrance Jones.. but I doubt we'll be anywhere near the range to draft him in. If we could deal Scola for expirings + a top 5 pick, that would be ideal... but perhaps unlikely.
Put a package together and go get Evan Turner...hes more of a point guard anyway, he can come play the 1. Great size, good passer, high IQ...wants to make plays and create for himself and others. LET'S GET IT DONE!
Calm down, people! This is the "roster move reaction" equivalent of people calling the morgue after a guy sneezes. Patterson is only being called up in order to practice with the Rockets. The Vipers have some time off coming up, and Morey and Adelman (correctly) feel that such time would be better spent practicing with the NBA club. Someone cited the example of Jermaine Taylor last year, and that's a good one. He kept getting called up, but only as emergency depth and to provide an extra body for practices (a very underrated responsibility). Patrick Patterson will have a nice future in the NBA, IMO. But this roster move is not the opening of the floodgates to that future. It's just a way for him to spend more time with the team. That's all. Morey said it from Day 1. Patterson is not expected to play much this season. Now, NEXT season? That may be a different story.
Patterson will be good. I think the team is seeing him as our future PF after Scola is done. They are taking their time to develop him. We have too much depth for him to crack the rotation right now.
