8 minutes left, down by 8, and Chicago comes out and throws 3 incompletions. Meanwhile Thomas Jones is averaging almost 5 yards per carry on the game, and has basically carried the offense all season. I don't get the playcalling. Also, I haven't seen much of Grossman, is he always this poor with accuracy? Or is it just the Panther defense? I really can't even believe Chicago is in this game, after giving up 29 points and over 400 yards of offense.
Carolina and Pittsburgh looked so much more impressive today than Seattle and Denver looked yesterday, so I'm tempted to pick them for the Super Bowl. However, I'm having a terrible month... my two biggest plays (betting) this weekend were for Chicago and New England, and well... maybe I need to go with the complete opposite of my original gut instinct, Costanza-like. Oh, and Steve Smith... MVP.
Not a good weekend for NFL refs. That INT should have never happened because the play clock had expired. The play should have been blown dead and even after the INT the Panthers couldn't have declined. That plus the horrible calls in the earlier game today.
I'm not so sure on the delay of game. I am not positive, but doesn't one of the referees keep the time? Maybe the playclock in the stadium started early... Regardless, that's not what lost the game for Chicago...it was really the defense and Grossman's poor throwing. I thought the biggest mistake from officials this weekend was that terrible pass interference call in the endzone for the Broncos that gave them the ball on the 1, basically handing them a TD.
