I honestly don't think PBF will beat Marquez. JMM = Pacman, and Pacman destroyed Hatton and the Golden Boy. I wasn't too impressed with Floyd's performance against Oscar or Ricky.
ROFL Yeah, Cotto is no easy fight. I have no respect/trust for Mosley as a fighter since the doping scandal. Not in this day and age. Plus, look at how he's been getting better lately.
If Pacman wins against Cotto, there's no need for him to fight Floyd, that validates his greatness much better. I don't think Floyd can beat Marguez too.
No chance Cotto beats Pac-man. I hope Cotto eats lite before the fight cuz Manny will have plenty of right's and left's for him.
Who ever said that Cotto never lost? Bueller? Bueller? Actually, I wish I had seen the Cotto VS Clottey fight, because I was hoping Clottey would pull through. From what I've read there seem to be very few sports writers who were outraged by the decision. I do like Clottey though and hope he gets another title shot soon. Lets see. I said name me top fighters that Floyd has fought in their prime. Genaro Hernandez: Was in his early thirties at the time of his fight with Mayweather, and had health issues. Retired after this fight. Angel Manfredy: You said it yourself - Overrated. Jesus Chavez: Ok, so he was in his prime but no one will confuse him for anything other than a good fighter. Jose Luis Castillo: This is the closest Floyd gets to fighting a top fighter in their prime. As you point out, the first fight Floyd should not have won. Arturo Gatti: He fought Gatti when he was in his thirties and post the Mickey Ward trilogy. Oscar De La Hoya: Well, Oscar was past prime and Floyd needed a split decision victory, where as Pacquiao made Oscar quit after 8. Hatton: Overrated IMO. What Floyd did in 10, Pacquiao did in 2. Now, compare that to who Manny has fought in less than 6 years. -Marco Antonio Barrera (2003 & 2007): Won both -Erik Morales (once in 2005 and twice in 2006): Took 2 out of 3 from El Terrible. -Juan Manuel Marquez (2004 and 2008): Two epic fights. Took the second with the first being a draw. (Though he should have lost the first, at least). -David Diaz (2008) Respected fighter that was taken out in 9. -We all know what happened to Oscar and Ricky. I love the 'Floyd will dominate' so their is no need for the fight to happen argument. I would love to see Floyd try to roll his shoulders continously as Pacquiao relentlessly beats away at him. Floyd has never fought someone with speed AND power in both hands, and who can take a punch. I do agree with you on Paul Williams. He is a freak of nature and it is a shame that he'll be ducked by all opponents for as long as possible.
I really think Cotto only won the last decision vs. Clottey due to the NYC Puerto Rican Day home court advantage. He fought with a lot of spirit, as did Clottey, but I think Clottey had the superior boxing performance and was robbed. Cotto ate more clean shots from Clottey than the other way around. In any case, Pacquiao/Cotto should be an entertaining fight. I expect Pacquiao to win, given that Pacquiao will likely land more clean shots (which will cause Cotto to bleed like a Battier), and if it goes to a decision, there is no Puerto Rican Day in November.
WTF are you talking about? The Floyd fight wasn't even available to him. PBF is already fighting Marquez. You want him to fight Pac-Man 2 months later??
None of you guys even mentioned that Floyd absolutely crushed Chico Corrales, a P4P top 5 fighter who was one of the most feared punchers in boxing. I'm surprised that nobody expects Floyd to beat JMM, but I guess people only regard boxers as good if they are knockout artists. Floyd is a boxer, not a puncher, of course Manny's going to knock out guys quicker! Boxers are always so underrated compared to punchers - if Willie Pep were around today, fans would consider him a glorified Paulie Malignaggi.
Someone said that he never really lost.. I was just addressing that. Pac beat a way past his prime Erik Morales. Plus he got his ass whooped the first time. When have you ever seen Floyd take a beating? Even in the first fight against Marquez he was all bloodied up. In my opinion Pac lost both fights against Marquez. Atleast the way I have scored them. Pac has lost, Mayweather has not. David Diaz was a joke against Pac, we all knew he didn't stand a chance.
The 1st Castillo fight mayweather should have lost. I watched in on replay and I don't see how mayweather won.
I'm looking forward to this fight and Floyd vs Marquez More so Floyd vs Marquez. For the reason that I haven't been impressed with Cotto recently. The fight against Clottey was a shame...one of the judges had it 116-111..WTF I think it was way closer than that. Gotta agree with whomever said Marques is underrated. I had Marquez winning both fights (by a close margin) against Pacman. I like Manny but he lets go too much at times and leaves himself open.
Cotto will be the reason you will never see a Manny vs Floyd fight. The technique that Cotto will make Manny struggle not being able to land clean shots. Cotto is one of the smartest fighter around. I got Miguel in 6 rd KO.
How can you look past the pac man? I think its very easy to watch his fights and think a lot of the punches he throws are glancing blows. They are actually bombs, its amazing how good he is.
What? I hope you're not actually betting on that. Nothing in Cotto's resume suggests him being anywhere near a defensive stalwart, not to mention, Manny's also felled JMM, who is one of the best counter-punchers, 4 times. I just don't see Cotto pulling out anything to beat Pacquiao. Pacquiao beats him in every category, strength included. Not that it's going to be easy for Pacquiao, but, he is going to win.
Agreed. Although I don't think it will be EASY. Considering this is the first regular sized real welterweight he is facing... Hatton is a small light welterweight and Oscar...well, he hasn't been a real welterweight since 2001. I don't think it will be easy either, but he is fast enough to stick and move enough to do some real damage to Cotto's face. TKO anywhere between the 8th and 10th round.. Pac takes it.
