Luther was actually really good under JVG, I don't see why he couldn't be as good as then if not even better under other coaches that fit his style of play.
I thought Rick really liked Luther. I remember his first year coaching here; he always praised Luther on his hard cuts to the basket. This was during training camp. I guess it didn't matter when he never dunked it or get blocked. He has mad hops; I wonder why he doesn't utilize it more.
Luther is an average SG, and an undersized average SG that. He's that particuarly fast or explosive. I don't understand why anyone would want him or why he's still in the league to be frank.
luther seems to struggle with IQ and confidence issues. he doesn't have a very good feel for the game. under JVG all he needed to do was shoot jumpers which he exceled at. ask him to dribble the ball and he makes very bad decisions.
I know his handles are bad. But, (according to an interview with Rick that was posted on ClutchFans) he was good at moving without the ball. Why couldn't he finish? He has great hops. I remember those give and go with him and Yao. Biggest problem was whether or not Luther could finish. I just wanted to see him finish strong.
Luther would be a great fit under O'Brien's free-wheeling, transition, shooting system. I could see him really thriving there, especially since it's in the Midwest, where he's from.
