Since we're taking tests now: http://discoveryhealth.queendom.com/optimism_pessimism.html I got an 80.
27... i'm somewhat a pessimist, but to the answer of most of those questions, I really wouldn't care... and the negative responses were closer to "not caring" than were the positive answers...
78 "You are not a complete optimist but, more often than not, the optimist in you takes over. You are fairly realistic and generally see things for what they really are. This approach to life reaps many rewards - a positive attitude is powerful for personal, relationship and career success. All the goodies in life are grasp if you have a positive attitude towards life. Your positive outlook energizes you, helps you to mobilize your strengths and serves as a source of motivation to keep you going during the hard times. And you're probably a joy to have around! You are able to see the good in most everything that happens in your life. You realize that there is some value in even the worse of situations, whether it's simply to grow and become a stronger person or learn from mistakes. You should definitely value and nurture this ability, as it's one of your strong points." I thought I was supposed to be a cretin?!
47, which i thought was a little high. ask any of my friends around the time we get a test grade back, i'm in pessimism over-drive there. also, what's up with all the optimist love on that site. being optimistic and not seeing the world as it is really just means you choose to pretend the bad is not there. who cares about doing that. i mean continuous whining isn't good, but neither is continous rose-colored glasses. plus, its fun to set yourself up for disappointment and then be pleasantly surprised. more fun than setting yourself up for appointment and being dismayed in the end*. i think that view is the biggest driving factor in my pessimism. *yes i know appointment isn't the right word there
68 here. I'd like to see how this breaks down geographically. I mention this because I saw VesceySux's (a New Yorker) score of 36. Southerners tend to be more laid back and trusting. Does your environment affect your score?
I got a 60, which surprised me. I generally tend to be pretty optomistic. I think the thing that lowered my score is that the things i was pessimistic about (the wallet for example) I was very pessimestic but the things I was optomistic about i was the 2nd or 3rd most optomistic answer. Like Behad I think that if the site collected a little bit of demographic information (approx age, sex, location) that the results could be pretty interesting.
