omg... please ..please stop saying cuttino again.. what's with everybody missing cuttino..cuttino cant play worth a crap.. y'all forgot when he played with the rocks ??.. he was horrible... the only thing he can do is shoot 3's... he does some good turnovers and gets blocked almost every time he drives to the basket, he is also a great passer.. he can feed Yao successfully probably 2/27 times... the rest of the 25 are intercepted ... so please.. NO MORE MOBLEY..
I love Wesley, but I dont think the rockets should resign him and they should also do a buyout of Sura's contract and that would free up the necessary salary to bring in a proven 2 the knicks have been trying hard to deal jamal crawford...i'm sure the rockets can get him if they're willing to take on his long term contract he's everything the rockets could want at the 2 except for his defense, but i think his offensive advantages outweigh his lack of good d. he's young, has size, can hit the 3, can hit wide-open shots for that matter, has a good crossover and ball handling skills, and will take and make big shots. knicks would definitely trade him to the rockets for houston's lottery pick and they might be dumb enough to give him to houston for juwan and the second round pick and of course he'll fit right in, because he would then be an ex-knick i bring up crawford for two reasons: 1) I think this is a realistic possibility 2) Any players the Rockets draft will not have a huge or immediate impact...there might even be problems finding minutes for him as well.
I like the idea of JR Smith. I'd like to keep our draft pick if possible and try to get Shelden Williams with it--he would a great compliment to Yao--a glass eating, shot blocking power forward who is just rock solid. If he can develop a dependable 18 footer to keep the defense honest we would have a rock-solid front court. Tough as hell. If the Rockets could somehow, someway pry Luol Deng from Chi-Town, then he would be a perfect Shooting guard for us--although his three point % is nasty. Anyways--he's my ideal player at the 2, not my realistic choice. Which brings me back to JR smith--maybe a trade for Stro could get it done and we'd have a young athletic 2 guard with something to prove to the league due to his benching. We'd field a line-up of: Yao Williams McGrady Smith Alston We would lack in the three ball department, but we'd be young, tough and athletic. In all, i have confidence that management won't screw this offseason up and as long as Ryan Bowen and Juwon Howard are gone--then it's all good with me.
Can any of you guys actually tell me why the hell you think the Clippers would trade their starting shooting guard for Elton Brand's backup?
I follow the lakers, so I know how George and Rush play. George can be really nice at times and always hustles, but he's very inconsistent. One day he'll be scoring plenty, grabbing rebounds, and defending well. The next he'll be invisible for the entire game. When he's off, he looks like Ryan Bowen on the floor. I'm totally serious. And he's constantly injured. He used to be able to play at backup SG, but he doesn't do that anymore. He's got a very aggressive mentality, but even that is inconsistent. Sometimes he'll shoot at the slightest opening, but other times he'll hesitate to take wide open 3's. He's trusted by Phil jackson and pretty favored, so he's doing something right. As for Rush, he just terrible. All he does is stand around and shoot that streaky 3pt shot of his. He does nothing else. And he also has either a work ethic problem, a problem with his teammates, or both. At the training camp for the lakers, Rudy T wanted to gather only the young players for a thorough workout. Caron Butler stole the show and thoroughly impressed. No one else had any mention except for Walton was there but didn't participate due to back problems. Rush decided not to show up at all; he blamed it on a foot injury. The lakers were not happy and it got worse when Rush reportedly had tension with a fellow teammate. No, not Kobe. That would be all too expected. The beef was with freakin Caron Butler. Lemme clear this up: everyone likes Caron Butler. He's a diva for sure, but he gets along with everybody, even Kobe. A few weeks into the season and the lakers have enough of Rush and trade him away for nothing despite having no backup SG and five SF's. It's no surprise that he bobcats cut him this late. No to both players unless were desperate. And in that case only George.
As much as I hate to say it, this team has a crutch. Its name is McGrady. Alot of the trade ideas make sense on paper, but our crutch won't like them. Imagine we bring in Jamal Crawford. He likes to handle the ball to a good extent and will bring it up sometimes and shoot the three or create. His personality and game are probably not going to mix well with TMac as it will with some of the younger guys. Samething goes for Cuttino. Don't know too much about JR Smith. Childress did sound intriguing, but I don't know how interested they'd be in Swift? I'd rather trade J. Howard but TMac would most likely faint. I like the idea of us drafting Sheldon Williams because IMO, he seems to be the most polished and NBA ready PF coming out this year. I like Taquan Dean in the second round since he too stayed all four years under a great college coach and seems capable of running the point.
"Can shoot, can't pass" is almost the definition of an SG! Only the greatest shooting guards are good all-around -- and a team with one of them would laugh at anything we could offer in trade. Cuttino is about as good as we can reasonably expect to get. And even he is attainable only because the Clippers suddenly need a backup PF. Of course, we could totally luck out in the draft. But it would be unwise to bet our future championships on that tiny possibility. Also, because of T-Mac's uncertain health, we have to plan on making our move in the next 3-4 years; we can't afford to wait a few seasons for our rookie to grow up. Cuttino would help us instantly. As with any player, you have to take the bad along with the good. You mentioned some of his negatives, now consider his positives. He is a legit 3pt threat and can create his own shot, thus relieving a lot of pressure from T-Mac and Yao. He is a good finisher on the break. And he is a good perimeter defender, which is something we really need. On balance, I think the Cat would be a major help to us.
I think McGrady's days of playing the top assistant to the GM are over after this season. From the signing of Swift to the trade of James to the retention of Howard, I highly doubt if McGrady is consulted very much this offseason, except to tell him what players we are recruiting as opposed to having him tell management what players to recruit.
I say we trade our first round pick for Josh Childress. JVG won't start a rookie. esp not JJ Reddick.
Why would the Rockets want JJ when they have a good chance of drafting his Duke teammates, McRoberts & Shelden?
I just did a trade deal between josh smith and Stro on espn's trade machine! If we can get this deal done then i would love to draft Shelden Williams to add a defensive power for Yao.
