    Heath,

I see that the nostalgia site has been updated to 3/31/13. Do you want us to go ahead and post lineups?

Well, if you want to play we can. :) But I think the general concensus was that we just wait it out. But you decide. Post a lineup and I'll run "The Waiting Game".

Got them. From what I understand there was a good chance that Chuck would manage to get another mail in today, so I will check back when I return from work.

Heath apparently isn't around right now, so I'll share the good news with everyone.

It's done!!! Chuck has sent all the files, so whenever Heath is ready, we should be ready to resume.

The first thing on the agenda is free agency and the draft. I'm sure Heath has his own ideas that he will post, but discussing it now and coming to a consensus on certain issues might speed up the process. Here's what I'm thinking:

Free agency Thursday night if we can get an update tonight (with numerical ratings). That's over two full days from now, so that should be adequate notice. Friday and Saturday are busy for most of us, and especially this weekend with Valentine's Day, so that probably wouldn't be the best idea. And I know Heath has to work on Sundays. So, realistically, to give everyone notice and have a lot of activity it needs to be either Thursday or Monday, and imo sooner is better.

The other suggestion I have: handle the draft like free agency. Set a time in advance, and if people don't show up or send a list, too bad. Dragging out the draft for a week takes a lot longer than it should.

any thoughts, Heath? I'm just thinking out loud here... whatever you want to do is fine by me.

Free agency whenever is fine with me as I am not planning on bidding on anyone.

I will try to be around for the draft but if I am not here for my pick, auto it.

And I will say this now: Every season we take WAY TOO LONG to go through the draft!

Considering how long it has been since we have had our sim going, let's try everything we can to get the draft done in a reasonable manner. If you can't make your pick, send a list to Heath or have your draft autoed.

While I have decided to relinquish my head of the league position, I feel it is in the best interest of myself and the Cincinnati Reds organization that I remain in charge of said organization, regardless of the year :). Kind of like Bud Selig, except in reverse, and without the bad hair and creepy eyes.

I don't think the drafts took too long when I ran it. I always set a time and if you weren't there then the computer picked for you. Heath, no doubt, will find out how exhausting FA is, and that it is really hard to get FA and the draft done in one night unless you auto rounds 2 and up.

Well, I guess the next question to ask is when will the ratings be up and also Heath will need to make the adjustments (Edmonds and Foppert with the Giants, Paronto and Kelton with the Cubs, etc). Or maybe all of that stuff has been done and when he uploads, it will be there.

    Ugh.

I'm afraid I have bad news to counter all good ones. The savegame archive is corrupt. So Chuck if you see this can you come into chat?

More news. The good aspect of it should outweigh any bad aspects.

    1. I converted the savegame archive from a multi-archive to one massive one and then it suddenly worked.

    2. The save I got was the backup of what was at the trade deadline, so we're not at the offseason yet.

This is both good and bad:

    a) We have to decide how we move up to the offseason. Fast simming is suggested.

    b) It gives everyone the option to resign their players again. (Well, if we fast sim I would put in those contracts agreed to in the signing thread, but some missed out on it and there was some miscommunication between new simmers and the commish about auto actually taking care of contract renewals - those will now get a 2nd chance. Also previously some that were signed in the thread dropped out after the update so those would get a chance to be put in again.

So that is the current situation.

But we do have a savegame, and should be ready to get things going in a not too distant future

Chuck - I think the best option now would be to just resend the save, and this time a current one.

I know sending the entire thing would take ages, so I suggest only sending the players.dat file, as it has all the info needed to run the game. If we lose old boxscores and messages in profiles so be it. I would think that then the save would come to 4-5 files instead of 29.
