If anyone have any idea who had what team, you probably do Manny as you have a way better memory than me, then we could get a team list for ppl to claim or give up their teams, then we can start claiming teams and maybe even get lineups done tomorrow and have a sim up sunday. I know I was Cleveland, and would probably want to keep them even if the computer manager screwed the entire franchise.
Seattle - SteveFrancis3 Texas - Puedlfor Chisox - DrewP Cleveland - Heath Minnesota - Castor27 Boston - TheCat Yankees - Nomar (?) Baltimore - Manny Ramirez San Diego - IVFL Los Angeles - DEANBCURTIS San Francisco - DVauthrin Colorado - NYKRule Arizona - Truth Pittsburgh - Zac_D Houston - Buck88 Cincinnati - ChuckG St Louis - DiehardRocket Montreal - Raven Lunatic Florida - devestata All other teams were under computer control I believe that was all; bovie had quit playing by the end of this iteration of the sim but I would save the Mets for him if he wants them and I would also save the Cubs for SamCassell. Since I built the Brewers team and only had 1 season to run the Orioles, I would want the Brewers if we did this.
I guess as this is not such a serious matter as our real thing we can start to claim teams on what Manny just said here in this thread. Teams not mentioned here can be claimed by anyone from now, the teams listed can only be claimed according to the list unless the manager listed frees them up. I will claim Cleveland Indians.
Technically that isn't entirely correct. I still had the Astros at that time because I did not relinquish them until Heath had taken over Florida.
I'm game for a restart. Those Cubbies look like they're pretty sad, but have some promise. I recognize a few names, like Guzman and Thurston. If we're really just going to play one season though, forget the draft and resigning players.
There will be no resignings, FA, draft or spring training. I will move the game up to the start of the season with computer on for all teams. I will also upload the updated stuff early tomorrow so players can start to post nostalgia lineups. Chuck - me and Cat got the files to me with a little help from a 3rd party. So you can continue sending e-mails. The first 9 parts of the savegame are now safely saved at my computer.
Actually the game remembered who was the owner pre computer. So here is an official list: Arizona - Truth *Atlanta - Some random dude Boston - TheCat *Chicago (A) - DrewP Cincinnati - ChuckG Colorado - MichaelVick *Detroit - kbm *Florida - devestata Los Angeles - deanbcurtis Milwaukee - Manny Ramirez *Minnesota - Castor27 Yankees - Nomar Mets - boville Pittsburgh - Zac D *San Diego - IVFL San Francisco - DVauthrin Seattle - SteveFrancis3 St. Louis - DieHardRocket Texas - Puedlfor *Toronto - leebigez * = Team is available to be picked even if it had a previous owner as they are not playing anymore. Oski you also get Mets unless boville suddenly shows up today and wants them. Also after I have simmed the first sim all teams not claimed will be available for being picked. I will also allow for team to be claimed for others. I have added the 4 human managers claimed in this thread already for the update that is about to go up.
Update will be uploaded to Correct or is it going to be somewhere else? I take it that once you upload the first sim, we can start a "nostalgia" line-up thread? Depending on how well I have Internet access, starting Sunday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon (will be out on travel for my job), I may need you, Heath, or just go auto for any line-up changes; however, I will let you know one way or the other.
Well as soon as this upload is up, you can start the lineup thread. Do not need to have the first sim in to get the lineup in. What I meant was that after we have the first sim in, I'm not holding any of the teams off limits to be picked. About the speed of the upload. It looks like the connection is pretty fast for uploading each file, but all the stuff connected with uploading each file takes some time. And as it it is 2048 files to upload it has already taken 4 hours already, and the file count is only at 640. But for the sims I would not have to upload player profiles again.
here's my issue with this "nostalgia" league. I've said it in chat, but I might as well say it here so we can have it open for discussion. It's been established repeatedly that we're not going to be able to run two OOTP leagues. It happened when DV had his league. One league inevitably becomes the more popular league, and activity slows to a crawl in the other. That's simply the way it is with the amount of managers that we have. I like the Nostalgia league, even more than Chuck's league, and if it's up for a vote, I vote for the nostalgia league. But I don't support doing this for a week until we get Chuck's league, and then switching back. Even if you plan to continue running the league after it, Heath, I don't think it would be worth it for you. It would require too much time, and I can promise that most people aren't going to care about one of the leagues. One will inevitably become the choice. I'd like to keep Boston, but only if this nostalgia league is going to become the primary league. Otherwise, I'll wait, and they are open to whoever wants them. P.S. To those who actually can post in other forums , I think now would be a good time to advertise for new owners, whether it be in signatures, a Hangout thread, or whatever your idea is. In both leagues, free agency and draft are the first things on the agenda, so it would be a very good starting point. People can actually put their stamp on teams instead of joining and playing with a bunch of guys the computer picked for them.
You're more likely to recruit new players with a 2004-ish league. People are unlikely to be motivated to join a league where the superstars of today are all retired, replaced by randomly-generated computer names with no cache outside the sim. IMHO.
Cat brings up some good points. In hindsight, I wish we could have gotten this nostalgia league going around Christmas time as we probably would have been done with 2 maybe 3 seasons by now. But of course, no one could foresee how long it would take to get the files switched over. I don't think it is fair or right to expect Heath to run both of these leagues. I guess the question to really ask Heath is how much longer before our latest league is ready? Will we be ready by next weekend for FA, the draft, etc? If so, then maybe we just scrap the nostalgia league. But if the answer is "don't know" or another month, then I think many here are itching for a sim and will go with the nostalgia league route. As for me, I don't have a preference one way or the other - both leagues have attractive players for me, whether it is the old Brewers teams with Roy Hunt, Carlos Lopez, and Ricardo Villareal or the Padres with Berkman, Santana, and Cody Ross. I just want a sim to get back going soon - if that means wait another weekend, that is fine but if it is going to be longer, let's get this thing going now.
Well I will do whatever pleases the masses. Either just wait for the savegame to be completly transferred to me, or start up this pause game. And this should be clear for everyone wanting this 'back to the future' league. It will never be a prioritized league, and chances are that it will be a one season thing only. But if someone wants to just have it for the time until we are back up with the real thing I could start it up. If just the profiles would ever finish transferring.
then my vote is to wait. There's no sense in you or anyone else putting in the work for a league that we know isn't going to last. Let's just hope and pray that Chuck sends the rest today...
