I skipped this part earlier. But what a nice way to rewrite history. Your teams sucked - for a long long time. I remember planty of the "Next season" statements of yours. They were always delayed. In fact I think it took over twice the amount of time you described to just get respectable. Thats a lot for a team getting 5-6 #1 picks. And if you think we didn't believe that you one day would be good. Hello? A team getting half that would get good by default. And calling your new team a dynasty? How about you actually win a couple before you state that? Nope - you didn't even do that - nice rewriting of history. When the game ended you weren't even the clear cut best team out there. There were 4-5 good teams in contention of winning every year. Also we could mention the chicken-**** reason for you "rebuilding". You didn't dare take up the competition with haven's team. His team was "too good to lose" - but when you look back on that game he lost in plenty of the playoffs, not even reaching the WS every year. So let me hear from you - how many WS wins does it take for you to call your team a dynasty? Zero? Or do you at least need one to do so?
As you can tell, Heath is still bitter over the fact that I kicked his ass in OOTP, and even in the soccer sim he runs despite the fact that I know nothing about soccer and he owns the game.
Oski, This is exactly what I wouldn't want to happen. IF we decide to re-start the league, we need to be committed to it and not be ready to drop it at a moments notice if we hear Chuck has finally sent the old files! That IMO that would seem to diminish the importance of the re-start, with people constantly wondering/asking about our old league. If it's dead....it's dead! If you still want to hold out for the old league then you should let those feeling be known now and vote against the re-start. I, for one, am just ready to move on! I have no confidence in getting this thing going again and we would just be delaying the inevitable.
If we have to decide between one or the other, I would want to stick with the league that Heath is running, mainly because I really like having Berkman, the brilliant Santana, etc. I will participate in the re-start, but once the old league gets started back up again, that league will be my main one to focus on (of course, I can always try doing both but just stating which one I have a preference for).
This seems to be the attitude of most so I guess let's just continue to wait it out. I see no reason to start a new league when it will just be dumped when/if the old league is up and running. We should only continue when we can all decide we are tired of waiting and are ready to get on with things. If you guys still have faith and patience left.........more power to ya.
Waiting doesn't kill me. I've got nothing invested in the old league, but alot of people do. I want whatever's going to keep people interested in the sim and active when/if we get it going again.
Some good news to lift the spirit. I got an e-mail from Chuck today with the first 5 of 29 files for the save game. He said there would be 5 e-mails total with 6 attachments each and the remaining 5 in the last. He said he would try sending more later today, but if he doesn't make it he will be away Tuesday and Wedensday.
Haven't heard from him since he left for home. Don't know if he is back yet. Hopefully we can get something going soon. Maybe we could fire up a waiting game? Zac sent me the 2012 save he had prior to the crash. I simmed it to 2016 without it crashing again so it isn't doomed for a crash. This is the save of players like Henry Lovejoy, Beck Ett'trade etc. You up for it? The save is not identic to the teams that we had as Zac had computer simmed out season 2012, but it could be cool anyway. I personally could get back players like Carlos Amezcua and Keith Simon.
Is that the sim with Reece Kemp and 7 foot Henry Mifflestoppins? I might even be interested in a little of that action
Hmm, I just realized that Ricky was in the original sim so he wouldn't be in that one. This was the sim in which I started out as Arizona then went to Milwaukee and was Baltimore when the thing crashed. Sure, I would be up for it - I would be interested to see where Domingo Cardenas and Carlos Lopez are.
I'm not sure where to find all players as there has been trades going on between computers, but I havent seen either Reece nor Henry. Also Manny, the players you mentioned are not at Baltimore. Just found Carlos Lopez though, at Milwaukee. If we're gonna run this, a couple of things: 1) The save is currently at the end of the 2012 season, meaning FA and draft would be next. But would running this at computer be a big deal since the teams are not identic to what we had anyway. This would make us start directly at the 2013 season with picking teams, or reclaiming what we had. 2) This is not gonna be 'The sim'. Chuck is in chat just now and he is in process of sending more e-mails, each e-mail takes 1 hour+ to send with all the attachments, and he thought he would be able to get 2 more done today at least. This would bring us half the way to a full savegame. 3) 'Why start the 2013 sim if we're just about ready to start the offseason for the true sim?' Well, that would still take a while to go through FA and draft and spring training etc before we get things started. Using that save could give me some on the job training, for lineups etc. And the old one wouldnt have to end when we get the current one back up running. It could still continue running but on a much slower pace having us end up with 2 sims. Nostalgia and Current. So what is the vote?
We can do this 2013 season until everything is ready for our "true sim". I say that we could probably do the 2013 season really quick and by the time we are done, the normal sim will be ready to go. I have missed it so much that I would be willing to participate in a "one season only" sim (the 2013 season) as long as I am Milwaukee. Any way that you can post the league page for that sim so we can see who is on which teams?
Reece and Henry were in the original sim. Also the best way to find players is through the trade players screen. There is a search function to find players by name in there. CK
Thanks - I remember many of those guys well. Firing that league back up until our "in a holding pattern" league is ready is fine by me.
