I can run a restart league, either with OOTP4 or OOTP5.

Or I can run the Season 12 league.

I vote restart, that is, if we don't get the old game running by this week.

Just curious who is going to run the restart?? I know Nomar volunteered but from past experiences, I know that none of the guys that have been around for a while will vote for that. They would wait forever on Chuck before they would let Nomar run it. Just an observation.

A rookies - they didn't know that a restart would mean waiting until at least May. :)

I'll stick my neck out and say that I think Nomar would be a fine commissioner. I'm not necessarily pushing for a restart, 'cause I don't care much (and won't necessarily be too active) either way, but I think that if there was a restart, he'd do perfectly all right running it.

I have no problem with Nomar as commish. Heath this is absolutely nothing against you I just have no faith in getting the league going again unless it’s restarted. If things have taken this long and there is no solution in the near future, then I say just get on with the re-start because my bet is that's what we end up doing anyway.

I thought that Hatin' on Nomar was a requirement for joining the OOTPSim :)

I guess I mabe missing the boat here on Nomar, what did this guy to to piss all you veterans off? The only problems I have witnessed with Nomar is the whole "Lord of Dorkness" title he got from Chuck which he was none-to-happy with. Am I missing something?

Back in the day, Nomar basically brought the sim to a halt by throwing the season (actually, a couple of seasons) with his Red Sox teams. He got rid of pretty much every Major-League caliber player so that he could ensure good draft position, played A-ball minor leaguers in the majors, refused to field a 25-man team, etc. Wouldn't have been so bad if it was just the Red Sox losing 130 games a season, other than making a mockery of the sim. But the computer wasn't able to field a Sox lineup on occasion and the result was the stats got all screwed up, for every team.

Anyway, despite that, if Nomar wants to run the sim it's fine with me. I certainly don't have time to do it, and nobody else seems to be stepping up to the plate. I'm assuming all the above-mentioned issues are in the distant past.

I guess I don't have a problem with Nomar running a re-start sim. My only concern would be will he stick with it?

Ever since the original sim crashed, I felt that he never had his heart in the OOTP sim as he would participate for a season or two and then disappear.

Obviously we can't have the person running the league doing that; maybe if he is in charge, he will be more committed to the league.

Sam - I never heard anything about screwing up the stats. If that happened, thats my bad. And also my bad for all of the emotional trauma I caused when my bad team suddenly became a dynasty team, and many of you had to eat your words.

Manny - That's true, I haven't been into it since the original. But if I'm running it, I'll be serious about it again.

    Thanks Zac for the support.

Well, with the ground swell of support for Nomar, I think a vote may be in order.

Option #1: Continue to wait on the file transfer from Chuck which will not happen any time soon.

Option #2: Re-start the leage with Nomar as commish.

Again I have no problem with either Heath or Nomar running the league, and the problems we're having with the file transfer(or whatever we're waiting on) having no end in sight.....my vote is the re-start.

I'd rather play in a league run by devestata than be as trustworthy as some of you are that Nomar would be reliable.

But I guess the lack of an OOTP fix is also speaking for some. Last thing I heard from Chuck was that he was sick, and would not battle his computer in that state.

I guess Chuck if you read this, and could chime in on how the issue stands as to a new modem/e-mailing me the savegame that could help for some.

If that happened? If? You think I'd make something as silly as that up? Anyway, here's some links to those days of yore:

    infamy

    stats screwed up

That's just one week of stats screwed up, there were many more. Otherwise, I wouldn't have cared. Anyway, I never said you wouldn't rebuild, I just wish you hadn't screwed up the sim for others in the process. Hopefully running the league you'd have more consideration, or we'll have to start up the 25-9-26-11-4 8-12 11 13-7-26-24-11-12-12 talk again. :p

Sam - Definitely running the league I will have much more interest knowing that a lot of other people who care very much about it depend on me not ****ing up. And if I did mess up the stats, you more than made up for it with the code bs behind my back.

Heath - That's pretty sad that you feel that way.

Even if we do restart, it doesn't mean chuck can't keep trying to get the game to Heath.

I say we try Nomar out on an interim basis and if he proves he can do it, we'll stick with him, if things get crazy, hopefully Chuck will have sent the whole game to Heath and we can continue where we left off.

Also, will we be starting with the 2004 MLB rosters? It'd be interesting to start teams off the way they are this coming season.

the NIMF recognizes Nomar as a serious upgrade over the Darko-loving aforementioned ChuckG.
