Whats really gonna suck is that after the wait is over, the owners who play via message board(me!) are gonna get left in the dust by you freaking chaters! You kids with your freakin' fancy shmansy MIRC! :D

Just a little update to let you all know that there is nothing new to tell. Well I could tell that it could be far into next week when Chuck returns to school that I'd get the savegame, but we will see how things turn out.

    Keep the faith.

In the meantime, let us all reflect on how much of a dumb-butt Jack Cust is, and curse his name. Thank you.

    Heath,

Can you give us an update on the latest? Has Chuck moved in and got the modem and FTP capabilities? Still think that it may be this weekend that we can resume with the league again?

The latest is I have no idea. Or rather no news that differs from the previous update.

I think Chuck got back to school yesterday, but he had to get the modem too as you mentioned. I can only tell that as soon as I get the game I will let you all know within a year or two. :p

This is getting a little frustrating. What exactly is the hold-up. Chuck is back in school by now correct? Is a re-start out of the question? Let's get something going!

There's no reason you'd lose the Tigers unless you want to switch teams.

I can understand the frustration. The problem seems to be that Chuck needs to get a modem up and running for his real computer. The current one, hereby known as the museum PC, is 7 years old and Chuck and it has been the cause of most of this frustration.

The other problem seems to be the savegame itself. Over 4 years this had come to be about 63MB zipped (consists of many files and folders). The idea has been to try an e-mail this stuff to me, but the e-mails can not have attachments larger than about 1MB if I understand Chuck correctly.

The largest file of all these is the players.dat file who is 20MB+ and over 1MB when it is zipped. Thus this file would have to be zipped with a program capable of splitting it up. I have such a program in PowerArchiver and surely there is other programs capable of this. Chuck however doesn't, and he is having problems getting his museum piece to be cooperative.

Will we start over instead? Nope, this is an option I wouldn't be happy with at all. Too much invested into the rebuilding project I started with the Marlins.

Doesn everyone still has their team? Yes, there is no reason they shouldn't have.

Chuck - I talked with Zac in the chat yesterday. And we tested out something with his 12 season save. Apparently the game doesn't really need the sub-folders in the savegame to run. Some info would be lost, but nothing major (old boxscores, info like Player History in the profiles and probably some league history). While it would be nice to have this info to, if it would make it easier to only concentrate to send the rest (if we could get past that one file) we could hopefully get this up and running sooner. Maybe the other files could be added later and that we could hold the offseason in the mean time?

Listen, lets just restart the damn thing. It looks as if this may gone on for a while still. Let's just re-start.

One problem - who would run this re-start league?

Well, I would assume Heath. Although by your comments Heath must have stated in chat that he has no interest in running a re-start league. I'm not trying to cause problems, I'm just anxious to get it up and running again. If this is something that we don't even have a time-frame on I think a vote on this might be in order. Although we would need to make sure Heath is still willing to run the league is a re-start is decided. I may be totally off on this and everyone might be content to sit and wait for whatever it is we are waiting on now (it's been so mnay things i lose track). So my idea of a vote may not even be needed, just an idea. I'm still very new to this league and will go with whatever the "elders" say.

Heath has stated in chat and in this thread that he is not interested in running a restart league (because I approached him about this several weeks ago).

I nor Cat have time to run it, so unless Zac or Castor or someone else who is familiar with the game wants to run this restart league, that is fine with me.

In the meantime, I will continue to wait for our league to start back up again, no matter how long that will take.

If you are waiting on me to run it, you'll have to wait until at least May.
