Hang in there, Htown. I love this sim as much as anyone else and it has been killing me that we haven't had a sim. I just want to make sure that we can fix this problem and that it won't happen again. Sunday will come soon enough; in the meantime, maybe I can focus on things that need it like work and school, lol.

The problem with OOTP is fixed.

Or as fixed as it can get. OOTP tech support fixed a problem with the coding that occure on about 20% of the downloads.

    What does this mean?

Chuck will take the backup we had after the FA/draft at the start of the 2006 season, and fast sim up to the trade deadline where we was supposed to be when the crash first occured.

ALL TRADES done in the season will be restored, so no need to start talking with your trading partner about redoing such and such trades or not.

ALL TALENTS will be restored as of 06/07/22 (maybe restored at the actual trading deadline to make it easier, and but maybe Chuck will restore them on the actual date to give chances for extra tdevs in the last sim up to the deadline).

ALL CONTRACTS should be reoffered and put in manually if the player now suddenly do not agree to them.

So what will be the difference from where we were officially last time?

RECORDS - They will hopefully not be far off from what happened last time around, but different they will be, as it is a re-sim. We can only hope that it doesn't affect the playoff race too much so that teams in contention last time are now out of it.

STATS - duh! it is a re-sim. The same scores will not have happened, new stats will follow, etc.

RATINGS - players develop into their talent (on most occasions at least) the same players might not have developed in the same pace during the resim, but they should be much closer than anything we could ever guess them to be as ratings are turned off during the season anyway.

The only issue is how the re-fast-sim will happen as Chuck left the chat-room before we had talked about it.

    1) Chuck could put all teams under computer control.

    Advantage: Fast
Disadvantage: Could create more trades to redo/cancel as computer teams trade too.

    2) Chuck could have all teams (or at least human teams) under human control (and I guess put in the first lineup posted by players in the lineup thread) and fast sim the season.

Advantage: Computers will not trade away your team and create more work to recreate teams as they were.
Disadvantage: Injuries will happen, and could possibly ruin your win-loss record when you can not sub those, depending on who gets injured.

    3) We could have a fast sim day in chat. Me and Cat discussed this in chat and thought it would be the best option. This of course depending if Chuck has the time to schedule the say about 2-3 hours needed to get through this.

Disadvantage: Will take longer time to actually re-sim fast until the trading deadline.
Advantage: The chance of getting the record accurate is the highest of all options.

How will a fast-sim day/evening in chat occur?

    I. Chuck puts in the lineup for the first sim per the lineup thread. Should not take longer time there than what is specified in option 2)

II. Chuck sims 2 weeks fast. As of now the same pace as option 2.

III. Chuck relayes to the players in chat, injuries for their team. (players that will still be out for the next sim of course, others no need to mention)

IV. Players get the chance to make injury subs. Then Chuck returns to simming 2 new weeks fast. This is done again and again until we reach the trade deadline.

Simming 2 weeks without any updating only takes minutes (this without doing lineups, updating to the net etc.), 10 minutes tops. So it is about how fast the relaying of injuries/making subs that will decide how much extra time the chat thing takes. Hopefully there will not be too many injuries so this should go along nicely with there being only substitutions for injuries (no upload during the simming = no info to do other subs anyway)

So if Chuck has the time, could we all agree that this option is as nice as to pull off?

Also - for those teams that cant be in chat (#houstonrockets) during such as sim, I'm pretty sure they could send instructions to someone participating to take care of their team.

The Wakefields simply want to regain their talent ratings as of 7/22. For all other decisions, LA tosses their hat to the majority.

In looking at the options, #1 and #3 are my preferences. #1 would be great as it would be the fastest, and the faster we get the sim back on track, the better. However, I have a feeling that undoing trades will probably take as long or even longer than going through option #3.

So, I vote for option #3. More than likely, I will not be able to be in chat, unless it is done tonight. So, I designate Heath to be in charge of my lineup changes due to injuries.

I agree with Manny. If not #3, then I'd prefer option #1.

Guess who's back :). Heath, thanks for filling the managers in on the situation. Here's what I'm going to do.

    1) Restore talents as already mentioned (doing that now).

    2) Sim the first month (April) immediately after and update.

    3) Sim the rest tonight, a month at a time with an update after so you all can make injury substitutions.

I'll be doing the monthly simming about 7 central tonight so you all can get your Texans fix ;)

Do i have to redo my roster?

I cut somebody from my team and called him from my AAA to Major League Roster.

Nope, everything's taken care of. You won't notice a thing, except maybe a few more or less wins

In short what is happening now:

Chuck loaded the backup we had.

Chuck is putting in the initial rosters.

Chuck will sim up to the date we had (7/22) fast in chat (#houston-rockets)

If you are around you will be able to to injury subs (or have someone there to do them for you)

When we're at 7/22 Chuck will delete all tdevs that have occured in the re-sim, and start to put in all tdevs that happened in the old sim. This will probably take a while (30 teams to do) so do not expect an update to the site anytime soon.

I guess he will also put in the signings done or not.

When all this is done, Chuck will upload what we have to the site. And we will stop for 2 days. This time is supposed to be used to redo a lineup you want to have before the last sim up to the trading deadline, and check for any mistakes that may or may not have happened to your team in putting in talents and trades (and contracts).

We will then be back to normal after that and sim to the deadline, where the usual break will happen for players to make their last deals of the season.

I have taken down a couple of pages for each team to this site (talent ratings, salary, financial and tdevs) for use when you compare.

    http://home.trollnet.no/havard/ootp/league.htm

When we're back on schedule this will be deleted.

I'm about to leave for work so I wont be around to make injury subs for my team (or any others). I will leave this up to someone in chat.

I would guess there was progress, but I do not know what kind of progress (rosters or simming). I guess we have to wait for Chuck to chime in with a situational report.

Progress Report-Simming now, using teams on computer control to counteract injuries and whatnot, trades have been processed, and tdevs will be edited when I hit 7/22.

Sorry I haven't gotten back sooner, just got back to school Sunday, and I have a paper due tomorrow, so I won't be in chat more than a few minutes tonight

How is the edit job going. Have you fallen into a coma yet? Many teams left to do?

    Chuck,

Hopefully, you won't take this post as a condescending one, but one of concern.

I know that you had said that you were working on the sim and I also know that you are probably in the midst of finals. And it might be your personality to be very low-key. However, I really wish you would let us know what is going on with the sim, specifically with an estimate of when it is going to be back to normal.

If I knew, for example, that the sim wouldn't be back to normal until Monday, then that is fine. However, not knowing anything like that, I keep going to the site so many times a day, hoping to be surprised. Yet, it hasn't happened and I am wondering when it will.:(

He did. He was in chat last night and said that he had simmed up to 7/22 and planned to fix tdevs and upload sometime today if all goes well.
