Laura Branigan was actually a 2-hit wonder. She had Gloria and Self Control

    Scandal had :
    The Warrior
    Goodbye to You

Kim Carnes was at least a 3-hit wonder:
    Bette Davis Eyes
    More Love
Don't Fall in Love With a Dreamer

Wow, seems like all the good ones have been mentioned. What about:

Sir Mix-A-Lot -- Baby Got Back
    Iron Butterfly -- Ina-Gadda-Da-Vida
    White Town -- Your Woman

Sir Mix A Lot had a bunch of hits...just not mainstream Top 40 hits. What about the song Beepers?

Yeah, Sir Mix A Lot had a platinum album even before he had Baby Got Back.

I thought the whole idea behind 'One Hit Wonder' is that the band had a song that catapulted them into the mainstream, a top 40 hit, then never reached that again and faded.

In other words, you don't have to have just one song. I mean, nobody has just one song anyway - but nothing you do really catches the public eye again.

So it really doesn't matter how many albums you had - or how many songs you had get some radio play in an attempt to regain a measure of the popularity you had - to qualify as a 'One Hit Wonder'.

I don't really think you can consider a band that only had 1 top 40 hit a one hit wonder automatically.

For Example, look at rappers and hard rockers that have 1 top 40 song but have been around for a long time and are legends, and have had multiple platinum albums. Are they REALLY one hit wonders?

My favorite two hit wonder has to be Golden Earring....even though the band has been around for the past 37 years

    Radar Love--released in 1973
Twilight zone--released in 1982 (cool early MTV video)

My bad...apparantly, they had two other number one hits.

Something called: 'Dong-Dong-Di-Ki-Di-Gi-Dong' in 1968, and
something called: 'Back home' in 1970.

But I'm confused. I thought a one hit wonder was an artist that only had 1 top 40 hit. I thought the Tubes only had 1 top 40 hit. I do know that I saw the video to "She's a Beauty" every freaking day when I was a kid on MTV.
