Even without Colt, I think Gilbert can deliver another win for Texas.

I dunno man, Texas is gonna need to recruit a law much dumber than Gilbert to win this one. That abortion blue chip is gonna be tough.

Seems kind of excessive, but I think some people don't take abortion seriously enough. You are pretty much killing life.

I believe abortion should be legal, but the person should have think about it a lot before they go through with it.

Making laws that force people to look at ultra sounds or listen to descriptions of the baby, *even if you were raped*, is resoundingly arbitrary. That is about as literally close to "thought police" as you can get. Reminds me of this.

    Yes, it would be.

Not sure why you posted that picture either. Thinking that this dangerous and stupid legislation that invades privacy and strips patients and doctors rights is bad does not equal thinking abortions are good.

Please tell us what percentage of abortions employ that procedure. Once you do that, please explain why this rarest of interventions should compel the state of Oklahoma to mandate the rape of pregnant women by their doctors, even if another rape was the cause of their pregnancy.

If you want to get right to the point, ask how often a government entity mandates the procedure.

Let's repeat, the Oklahoma state government desired to make it a requirement that an instrument be unnecessarily inserted in a woman's vagina.

    I mean....holy ****ing ****!

At least now we know how rudan's head ended up this way:

If I survived that procedure, I would be an angry city-destroyer also, to say nothing of posting brain-damaged takes on a BBS.

I keep thinking about how seriously messed up rudan's post is.

He's essentially trying to justify this forced rape (and all the other crap that goes along with it that affects patients and doctors) by saying "Hey! At least it's not as bad as abortion!"

That is just so absolutely and terribly wrong on so many different levels.

If we start justifying stuff by how likely it is to reduce abortions and how "less terrible" it is in comparison to abortion, then let's just go ahead and pass a law that forces the doctor to chop off your balls, rudan... I mean really, that isn't nearly as gruesome as an abortion and it, in some way, would help to reduce the possibility of abortions being performed, so it must be ok, right?

You miss the point though... while they pay lip service to the responsibilities and rights of the father, most of the organized anti-abortion movement and the people that support them would never consider chopping a guy's balls off. To them, it's really about controlling women and making sure they know their place. As I've said, I'm no fan of abortion, but the fervent antis have taken a reasonable moral objection and created a position based as much on psycho-sexual inadequacies, jealousies, and downright misogyny as morality. Throw in the political aspect and you get a toxic brew wholly incapable of rational thought on the issue.

As an example, why are the most fervent anti groups also against birth control and sex education? Because you can't allow women to have fun engaging in that nasty sex without consequences determined by said groups. It really is sick.

i slightly disagree. I dont think its an attempt to control women. More of twisted attempt to stop pre marital sex as a whole. That’s why they don’t want sex ed. And birth control. It would temp and teach the young masses about pre marital sex without teaching them the evils of it. There thinking also is take away abortion as a choice, less people will have sex. Well that like saying that the death penalty stop people from commiting crimes. (not true)
Birth control is seen as a sin. In my opinion, part of it coming from one of the most misinterpreted bibles verses Genesis 38:1-10

Don't surprise me at all given they ostracize repeated sex offenders.

Maybe I'm naive, but I would hope the diversity of the Texan people will keep us from passing laws like Arizona's and OK's.
