Are their National championship aspirations done?

    I hope so.

    LOL OU.

This thread is not the same as "College Football Week One". I would prefer there to be a thread specifically to talking about the huge upset of #3 OU.

They could do nothing without Bradford.

OU probably would have won with Bradford, sure. But it seems clear that they've got problems at positions other than QB. They just didn't impress me in any facet of the game.

Yeah, I had a feeling they wouldn't be the same well-oiled machine they were last year, at least not early. That's not really a surprise when you basically change out a large portion of your o-line, WRs, and your star TE is out.

We'll never know, but then you'd be dismissing the way our defense handled OU in the first half, anyway.

Most people were impressed when we went into half time with only 1 TD against.

It was Hall's picks and Jacobson's flubbed punt return that really made the difference.

Take nothing away from BYU, you guys played very well. Congrats on the win. I was rooting for y'all. :)

At the end of the season, it could prove to be that BYU is a great team, and that OU was just outclassed. Maybe you will make a BCS bowl game. But given the fact that BYU was 1 - 21 coming into the game against teams ranked in the top 25, I think the early analysis out of this game is going to be that OU is down this year, or at the very least, played poorly in this game.

Any time OU loses is a good time, but it does hurt UT's strength of schedule.

Thanks, I appreciate the post. I don't have a lot of confidence in Hall, but I we are definitely poised to make some noise. I hope we don't fall alseep for Tulane.

    UT is my #2 always.

Nah... it's one game.. I think Bradford will probably play in there.... which won't tip that down too much then... Regardless.. even if Bradford wasn't injured.. we'd hand them a loss.

So, was it BYU's D or OU's Offensive Line? I'm not used to seeing OU's qbs getting presured like that.

OU's offensive line is very, very young. I feel kinda bad for Bradford, but dude could have made a fortune if he'd gone pro last year. Why he wanted to come back with such a young offensive line still amazes me.

BYU actually didn't play that well, certainly not the offense. They made a *lot* of mistakes.

But BYU still earned the win though, because OU played even worse.

While the national media constantly harps on OU's inexperience on the O line, making me inclined to dismiss it, it did play a role in the game. Bradford arguably got injured because of the O-line breakage - that hit was sick!!!

Still, the game as a whole was a case of both team's defenses over performing and the offenses under performing. Hall's picks and Jacobson's screw up put a lot of pressure on the defense and they came through, while the offense never did.

Hall was his usual streaky self. He seems poised and in control, but then is very turnover prone. BYU had a botched snap and a few picks that made you shake your head. One of the biggest bungles was when Hall threw a 40ish yard pass to Kariya who ended up fumbling it at the goal line. BYU shot themselves in the foot a lot, just as OU did. On the boxscore Hall filled the stat sheet, but you may not notice that it was mostly just moving the chains at mid field. BYU always managed to get a bad penalty or a turnover when it was on the brink of scoring position.

People who talk about injuries should also consider that we were without our first string running back, Unga. The guy is a factor. Not remotely close to Bradford's impact, mind you.

I won't lie - Jones' play for OU in the second half was pretty bad, BUT, again, Bradford had a few minutes short of a full half to perform and only scored on a botched punt return in the red zone. The whole game was a defensive battle, which is NOT what the pundits predicted - they predicted OU would win by 20+ and would have at least 14 in the first half.

It was a great game. Not a pretty game, but there was no lack of intensity. Being played in front of that crowd in Dallas, and with so much on the line, everyone I was watching it with said it felt like a bowl game. One of BYU's biggest wins in recent history.

I forgot to mention - that series where BYU stuffed OU on the goal line (when OU kicked their second FG) in the late 3rd was one of the most intense defensive feats that I've seen from BYU.

BYU deserved to win this game. I watched every minute of it. Their D manhandled OU, including Bradford. OU's only TD came from a botched punt reception by BYU on their own 20 yard line.

As far as SOS goes, if UT goes undefeated, they will still be in the title game. But it could be an OU team with more than 1 loss come October 17 if Bradford is out for a few weeks.
