Okafor turned down a 13 mill a year contract extension from the Bobcats, he wants the max allowable contract like Dwight Howard has.

And I don't think he's taking a hometown discount, that's one thing Hakeem has prolly taught him as well during those summer workouts.

Always thought Okafor would be PERFECT next to Yao. That was 2 years ago in the Van Gundy system.

Now with Adelman, going with Scola isnt at all like making do with Juwan Howard. Even if its just for 2 seasons he stands to IMPROVE. Landry and Scola tremendously boosted the team, their winning percentage was outstanding. Why break that up for, yeah a better player, but one that would put the team in cap hell for years

That analogy breaks down immediately, because Yao is so different from Dream.

Sorry Durvsa....I guess I meant Okafor would play a role....Brand would want to be closer to the man....and so far who knows he probably would be "the man" with the ways things have gone so far with our superstars.

It's ideal if he accepts our MLE,even though he is less experinced.Compared to Landry ,i prefer to offer Okafor a maximum rather than offer Landry a MLE.

Let Landry walk as we already have dorsey or even Okafor in future. I wish Okafor to accept our MLE,which is possiple because Okafor's hometown is Houston . At least Okafor will never ask for money excessively as landry do .

Outside of all the other good points made as to why this isn't very realistic(well maybe it is in NBA LIVE), but does anyone honestly see Michael Jordan and Larry Brown signing off on something like that? Seriously folks - No Rocket PF fits anything Brown or Jordan would ever go for especially if it is in exchange for Okafor. Just doesn't make sense.

    1) random trade thread
    2) salaries matching???
    3) why would charlotte do this?

i love how people don't even consider both sides of a trade. let's just go rape a team! give nothing and get something!!!

look, the memphis/pau thing was an anomaly. trades like that happen once in a lifetime. that'd be like us trading bjax to the spurs for tony parker...since dennis lindsey works for the spurs now. *wink*wink*

with trades, typically BOTH sides benefit. try to consider that, please....

I was with you, but drafting Joey Dorsey told me the Rockets are definitely looking elsewhere.

Okafor = POSSIBLY getting out of the 1st round

The ONLY way we're getting a 3rd Larry O'Brien trophy next year as currently constructed is if everybody on the Rockets plays out of their minds like it's a contract year, AND if every other contender underachieves.

I think it's more likely that a photo pops up of Obama smoking crack!

No offense to many of you, but threads like this are why I think Clutch should make reading Larry Coon's Salary Cap FAQ a mandatory prerequisite to being able to introduce any new ideas on trades or free agent signings the Rockets should make.

For your convenience, here is the link:

    http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm

This is the bible on understanding the NBA's salary cap. Read it.

Yeah, i really would love to see Okafor suits up in Rockets uniform. He is the kind of PF/C that we need on this team, it's just like Yao/Hakeem in center position and Okafor/Thorpe on PF position. That is an interesting pair!
