If it is indeed Bin Laden that did this, it is our fault that he has the ability to do so. He was trained and armed by the US in the 80's to fight the war in Afghanistan against the Soviet Union. In fact, many of the weapons they had in the 80's have been sold or converted for use today by the Taliban and Bin Laden's group. How sad.
It is ironic. But, just because you give someone a gun and they shoot you, doesn't mean you shouldn't give "people" guns. It means, you shouldn't have given that person a gun..... Also, a man like Bin Laden would've found a way to get the same training and armament from somewhere else. --------------------------- Today is a day for mourning (September 11th, 2001)
Man, I gotta say I think it is total bunk that the Mujahadeen would take that help and turn it around on us. Jimmy Carter, who was a genuine man and who did a lot to move US foreign policy away from dictators et al, was the first to condemn the Russian invasion of Afghanistan. He was the leader that stood up and imposed sanctions on Russia for the move, even as other countries moved in to make the cash left by the US vacuum. It just 'aint right, dammit.
I'm not arguing about guns, just the fact that if you get into bed with people you know practice acts of terrorism (Bin Laden had already been targeted as a terrorist in the 80's), you breed big trouble. The fact is that the funding of his organization was the beginning of his rise to power and the US's abandonment of him and his people (and the subsequent reversal of policy against him) turned him against the US. Many have reported that this is a personal vendetta against the US by Bin Laden, specifically the government in the 80's and carried over to today.
When Bin Laden got his training and support from the US he was not a terrorist. That didn't happen until later. Not that Reagan WOULDN'T have gotten into bed with a terrorist...
What are you talking about? His father was a terrorist? I suggest you check up on your sources, because Osama Binladen's father was NOT a terrorist.
He was and Bin Laden was his only child from his 10th wife. Time said that she was his least-favored wife. Bin Laden was also the 17th of either 52 or 53 children.
