http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2002/1023/1450096.html There are just so many things funny about this. 1. Mike Lowell and Kevin Millar for Shea Hillenbrand and Trot Nixon. (giggle) Sorry, I'm a little giddy. (giggle) 2. The headline. "Boston misses out on a chance to get an All Star 3rd baseman!!!!!!" Man. I wish the Red Sox could get an All Star 3rd baseman. That would sure be nice. Oh... thats right, Shea STARTED the All Star game. Thats right. My bad. 3. "The deal, which would have saved the Marlins $1 million in salary, was rejected." (giggle) Sorry, I was just imagining the phone conversation. Fellas, I'm an Astros fan too. And this would be like White Sox offering Frank Thomas and Ray Durham for Bagwell and Biggio.
Hey! Kevin is good. He had 39 homers and 158 rbis this past season. Oh that was in OOTP and in 2005...my bad..
I wouldn't mind the Astros getting Lowell. Dependent, of course, on what we would have to give up for him.
Why is it so absurd? Lowell is better (at least marginally) than Hillenbrand; Nixon/Millar are pretty much even. I'd love for the 'Stros to get Lowell.
I don't think there's anything marginal about Lowell being better than Hillenbrand, in fact, I don't think its really all that close. The deal would probably have been highway robbery for the Red Sox.
It sure would have been highway robbery. Shea Hillenbrand started the all-star game because the fans vote on it, and thats the only reason why. Shea isn't even the 3rd best 3B in the AL.
