What do y'all think about trading Mobley and Francis to the team that drafts Carmelo Anthony?
Then try to sign PJ Brown as a free agent.
And then resign Pos and Hawkins.

Anthony is a top prospect, and he is tearing it up against the best college teams as a freshman. He can do it all and will definitely be an all-star in the future.

The tricky part will be signing PJ Brown. But he is exactly the player we need. A steady offensive player with good percentage and a good rebounder. He is a hard working player. And would be perfect for us. He plays solid D, which is exactly what we need. Then we can also continue to bring Mo-T from bench, which have been very successful so far.

I love the way Pos is playing, but he will e better at the two, but he needs to be more critical on his hot selection. He plays good D, and I would love to keep him. Hawkins will probably play for the minimum so it would be insane letting him go.

I would love to get rid of Mooch, but I don’t know how.:p

This team could win us a championship.

    Francis/Maddox/Mooch
    Posey/Hawkins
    Anthony/Rice/Nachbar
    PJ Brown/Mo T
    Yao/Cato

    What do y'all think?

How do you trade Francis and still have him on the team that "wins us a championship"?

Karl Malone may leave Jazz this summer. Let's sign him as a FA and get rid of Yao. I am sure the yao-haters would love to see that.

I wasn't going to respond but I am hoping maybe some posters will read this and learn from it and the off season won't be filled with dreamcast mania.

None of what you have proposed is very feasible under the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

First, a draft pick (until signed) has zero contract trade value. Only teams under the salary cap can absorb any Rockets contracts for a draft pick unless that team is under the cap as off July 1...several weeks after the draft.

That limits you to Denver, the Clipps and Washington and those teams must land precisely in a position to draft Anthony.

Secondly, the CBA contains this little item called "Bird Rights". Without being to technical, it allows teams to go over the salary cap or increase the amount they are over the cap to re-sign their own FA's.

Since they are over the cap, all the Rockets have to over any Free Agent is something called the Mid Level Exception. New Orleans has PJ Browns' Bird Rights and there are 5 or 6 teams under the cap teams who can outbid the Rox for Brown. IOW, it's just not going to happen from a CBA standoint unless Brown is willing to play for Houstons' MLE and the Hornets don't bid $1 more for his services. Not likely.
