Even while playing at their absolute worst... there's only about a 7% chance of that happening.

Brian T. Smith thinks that this is a poor start for Dallas Keuchel.

Mike Lamb, Jason Lane... the endless parade of relatively obscure guys who vaulted this team to meaningful playoff success for the first time ever.

There's enough sample size of playoff games now to where you'd think a smart GM would be able to somehow construct a sort of lineup for "maximum playoff success"... unfortunately, in baseball, I believe it's likely impossible, unless you believe that the only way you'll really beat a great pitcher is with the occasional long-ball (and hence, the Astros lineup fits the bill).

What's Billy Hatcher doing these days?

I was really talking about the little things, like moving Gomez to 3rd instead of popping up, runner at 3rd less than 2 outs, that kind of infuriating stuff.

Even Beltran was a "disappointment" when we traded for him

    Then the playoffs happened

He is the worst. Though he still works for the Chron, I'm thrilled that he isn't doing beat work for the Astros.

"relative" dissapointment... his OPS of .926 in those 90 regular season games was his second best "season" ever (if you look at his end of year numbers with individual teams).

And that's before the 28SB's (0 caught stealing), and the all-around gold-glove CF defense that the Astros were upgrading to (from that bum Craig Biggio).
