because that's baseball. because a team is as good as their starting pitcher that night. after all the years of watching astros baseball...and particularly the last two seasons...i'm surprised people don't understand this more. starting pitching is the #1 variable. on any given night, if your starter is on, you're in the game. no matter who you're playing. no matter how poorly your team has played before.
In addition to that, the worst team in the league generally wins more than one-third of their games. And the best team generally wins less than two-thirds of their games.
