He tops so many balls... it's maddening. Even when he chokes up and should be just looking to making contact in 2 strike counts, he seems to still overswing in herky jerky fashion, leading to him making poor contact. He also swings at more than his share of bad pitches, adding to the problem. I mentioned on the last page that Manzella has twice as many walks as him this season. Feliz also has more walks. That is disturbing to say the least.
Pence also has trouble staying back and taking pitches the other way, adding to his hitting woes. Generally speaking, he completely lacks patience this season after showing some signs of improvement in that area early last year.
Oswalt has almost the same WHIP as Jimenez with both having thrown about 60 innings. Meanwhile, Jimenez could drop his ERA to below 1.00 in this game if he keeps up this pace. He came in at 1.12. He's down to 1.03.
Bourn was indecisive there. They probably could've gotten Hawpe at 2nd if he makes a good, quick throw.
Roy gets out the jam as he's done so many times in his career. That's always been one of his strengths. The dude is fearless and doesn't buckle under pressure.
pence's potential seems to be declining rapidly. he's a dime-a-dozen player at best at this point. pretty disappointing.
Wow, way too easy of an inning for Jimenez. 10 pitches. It would've been nice to make him work a little there. He has a good chance to go 8 now.
Yea, other than his partial first year and the early part of last season, he's gone through several extended slumps where he can't hit, can't get on base and just looks bad in general.
3 pitches to get through Berkman and Lee. Game over. The 1 hit that Jimenez has given up so far was arguably an error.
It was barely a hit. They're talking like it should be changed to an error. When are the Stros gonna win their next game? I would consider it a monumental accomplishment if we win one of the next 3. Zobrist and the Rays are gonna stick it to us.
Well, they pulled Jimenez after 92 pitches. He came up gimpy running to 1st in his last AB. He basically threw a no-hitter through 7 and dropped his ERA to 0.99.
Quintero and Manzella with our only 2 hits and neither ball left the infield. Q's hit was arguably an error and Manzella reached on a bunt. Epic bad offense, regardless of who we're facing.
