My friend, i've been saying Devinski should be pitching more for a looooooong time now. The same i did with Feliz. And when Hoyt is in the majors, and doing a good job, i will "remind" you i said it for a long time.
I don't know if is true, but i just saw last 14 days Devenski has pitched in 1 game, last 28 days in 4 games. In those 4 games hitters have an average of .128. If you guys are ok with that, ok, but i think he should be used MORE.
You specifically mentioned the past 8+ days. Please let me know which game where the situation warranted Devenski pitching and Hinch made a mistake.
He's been great. So have Feliz, Harris, Feldman, and Neshek for that matter. The Astros bullpen has a WHIP below 1 and a BAA around .210 since May. The bullpen has performed very well. bobrek asked you point blank which specific situation he should have been used. Even today, you would have used Neshek instead Devenski. How can you not see that this is why everyone finds you intolerable? Devenski has been groomed as a starter throughout his career (tandem or not). Turning guys like that into situational relievers doesn't necessarily happen overnight. They're just not going to all of a sudden use him for 1-2 outs, and expect him to pitch back to back games.
AGAIN, i will say it, AGAIN. I will use Devenski vs lefties, again, he is my number 1 guy vs lefties, unless is a lefty that can't hit lefties and then Sipp goes before him, but Devenski should pitch more, ESPECIALLY AGAINST LEFTIES. Now, i am giving you 28 days, 4 games??????? Other forum member gave me what, 4 days????? Devenski should be use more, and lets see how long before we see Devenski, AGAIN. And yes, i would had used Neshek for 2 hitters, then Devenski, and only because he has not pitched for so long. I would not waste Devenski with a 4 run lead, or 6 run lead, or losing. I prefer to use Giles in those situations.
Great post that would help "most"posters see the error of their ways, and done so in a kind helpful manner. If only you were responding to "most" posters. Unfortunately, this great post will go in his one ear and come out of his mouth regenerated into something about Villar or Straily.
My friend, Osuna was "groomed" to be a starter, and look where he is at. If we are going to use Devenski every 10 days, better to see him at triple a and bring Hoyt to the majors, but we are wasting talent with Davenski only using him once per week if lucky. Also, Astros are "grooming" Feliz as a starter, and look how dominant he is as a reliever. Imagine Feliz pitching for us last year if given the chance he is having this year. Feliz was as good at double a as McCullers was last year, one with a .915 whip and the other with .938 (McCullers). But you know how many innings Feliz got last year? 8 innings. I think what we are seeing today, we could had seeing it last year if given a fair chance. But no, instead we "needed" to use Qualls, Neshek at the end struggling. I would use Devenski to close a game over Giles right now, so i would had used Devenski yesterday with a 2 run lead and a weak hitting ball club if Harris was not available, nor Feliz. Why are we continuing to use Giles over Devenski? Why??? Because we gave a lot to get him?
speak for yourself, i find the whole cangrejero sensation fascinating and get a kick out of everybody losing their minds over him.
And i will tell you when, yes, Neshek pitching to the 2 righties, but NOT to the switch hitting catcher, Ramon Cabrera. Maybe they would had scored only 1 and not 2 runs in the 11th inning. Now, you prefer Neshek vs the lefty or Devenski?????????
And just for the record, Neshek vs lefties, .302 average and an OPS of 1.317 And for the record, i've been saying this since LAST YEAR. So you wanted a game, i gave you one, THREE DAYS AGO, Ramon Cabrera vs Neshek or Devenski?
Oh wait. Was that the game where Neshek gave up a ringing go ahead RBI double to....wait for it....The rightie Suarez? And that was after he gave up a leadoff single to....gasp...another rightie?!? Keep on keeping on, guy.
yes my friend, but then gave the SAC FLY to Ramon Cabrera, Neshek had NO BUSINESS pitching to a left handed hitter in that situation, let me give you the numbers, AGAIN, .302 average and an OPS of 1.317. Is not the same to go to the eleventh, with a 2 run deficit than only 1, and we had 2 singles in that bottom of the inning. Yes, that game
But, if you agree on Neshek pitching to Ramon Cabrera over Devenski, well, thats your opinion and i respected, but, i disagree, sorry.
I, The Beard, do solemnly swear to not reply to any post from cangre for a minimum of one week. If everyone else here did the same, it wouldn't slow him down one bit, but I do know the banter bothers a lot of people....so I'll lay off....for a week
