Which is why he had the 5th rotation spot unless he was terrible in ST. I still hold out hope, but I get more concerned with every start that him starting is a waste of time.

Yeah which was a dumb reason to give Brian Moehler guaranteed 3 million dollars which could have been used on this years draft if say somehow Jameson Taillon falls to us. As much as Drayton has turned a corner in terms of building a farm, he and Ed Wade are still obsessed with overpaying relievers and "nice guys."

Paulino sucks and his WHIP has been bad at every level of the minors. Just bad control, too many walks. And 20 homers allowed in 97 big league innings last season is ridiculous. At 26, he should be more developed or at least show signs of improvement. I just don't see his justifying a rotation spot. Long reliever, mopup guy, whatever, just don't give up a game every 5th day with him starting.

You're right. Just unfortunate that Moehler was given 3 million which guaranteed him a spot on this years 25 man roster last year.

What in the hell are you referring to? I'm pretty certain you should read everything I have posted before you come to your baseless conclusions.

uh, yesterday you said he deserved to start because he has great stuff and worked his tail off in the winter.

was there some waffling and sitting on top of the fence that you did between then and now that i missed?

Well my argument was that we shouldn't DFA Paulino like some people think. Also someone didn't realize he had zero options, so he would go on waivers. When I brought up Moehler, I was just saying how I believe Moehler will give you the same performance Paulino is right now. Just thought it was a poor move by Drayton and Ed Wade to guarantee Moehler 3 million dollars when we have a guy making the minimum who has better stuff and a much higher upside. No wavering. While Paulino dug his own hole, by the box score you can tell it wasn't entirely his fault. You were the one annointing me a "Paulino fanboy" yesterday right? The only reason it may appear I am a fanboy is because I find committing 400k to someone with much greater upside and a better pitching arsenal better than 3 million to someone who is so hot and cold with less of a pitching arsenal. Also we can't send Paulino to AAA without him clearing waivers (which i doubt would happen) and he needs the starts to get any better. I definitely have the same outlook I did at the beginning of the year let alone 12 hours ago.

I'm happy to give Paulino at least a few more starts. His stuff is good and while I'm well aware that doesn't guarantee success, the potential upside is enough to stick with him for at least a while more. His ERA is only in the 5s, not like it's sky high for a 5 starter.

Roy against the Reds tonight, can't wait. Ownage surely awaits.

Paulino should have the year unless he totally craters and sports an 8+ ERA.

It isn't like this team is going anywhere and the other options have exactly no long term potential to add anything to the team.

If that isn't interference, the rule should be changed. Clearly he left the bat in that position specifically to interfere with Towles ability to throw out the runner.

Feliz has absolutely no plate discipline. Total hacker with little pop to boot.

Yeah, what happened to the elite defense we were going to get at 3rd base? Looks nothing of the sort to me. Above average, just, but nothing special

It looks to me like Pence overswings the bat. There is too much herky jerky going on and I think that it effects his contact point. He needs to smooth it out.

Meanwhile, Towles is the opposite and seems to need to pick up his bat speed.

    Question Brooks

Where do you think Bourn ranks in leadoff guys around the league NOW and how much better do you think he can get?
