if someone had just been tuning in haven't previously seen an Astros game.. or heard of Wandy.. he could've fooled them into believing he was the ace of the club.. with the game he pitched tonight..

Wandy showing some big emotion after his 10th K.

It looked like he was starting to run out of gas there. Hopefully the bullpen can close this thing out for him if he's done for the day.

Wasn't it Roy last year who said Wandy has ace stuff?

i'm curious as to how the rest of the league views him. i know this doesn't mean much, but he was one of the consensus fantasy sleeper picks of this year. surprised me. thought he was one of those guys who you haven't really heard of or know nothing about unless you're a fan of his team.

Wandy is a beast and, no, tonight is not a fluke.

Smith doesn't even want to be at the plate at this point. Feel bad for the guy. He just looks lost getting regular ABs.

can't say i recall.. but if he can make this common practice.. needless to say.. it would do wonders for the team..

Hopefully Sampson just got the wind knocked out of him there. He came up awkwardly.

Wasn't it Cy Wandy at home the past year or two but away he was horrid? He did pitch a good game tonight. Hopefully he'll keep it up and it'll rub off on the other pitchers.

Lidge just blew his first save as a Philly.

Edit: Kouzmanoff just hit a 3-run blast off Lidge for his first HR of the year.

Lidge gave up 4 runs on 2 hits, 2 walks and a HR before getting pulled. He's now on the hook for his first loss as a Philly. 8-5, Padres.

Interesting tidbit... but I think we're all past the "Lidge updates" in the Astros game thread phase... good or bad.

The guy had a nearly flawless season culminating in getting a strikeout to win the freaking World Series... after being left for dead by his prior team, fans, and sportswriters. This would be like saying "Newsflash: Hakeem had a bad game today" after the 1995 playoffs.

The guy bought himself some sort of immortality by his season last year... one for the books.

Wandy gets rattled too easily. He also has spotty command which is his undoing. When his command is tight, he'll be good, if not, he will not succeed.

He is a #3 at best, our rotation is dismal so he gets bumped up a spot. He has been our best pitcher so far this year. If Roy doesn't pick things up wandy could be our ace. Which would mean this team is going nowhere.

Lidge is a great closer and was particularly awesome last year. Everything you said is accurate. I just thought it may be of interest to some people given his ties to the team and the fact that he was on a ridiculous run of saves dating back to 2007.

This forum barely gets hit and the participants are relatively mature compared to other forums on this site. I don't think the occasional slightly off topic post is that big of a deal. There are a few of those in every thread. I meant no harm and I don't plan to do daily Lidge updates. That would be unnecessary and annoying.

You're right about Wandy getting rattled easily in the past but your third comment is true for 99% of major league pitchers. A few can get away with having ridiculous stuff.

All I know is that Wandy looked great today and I'm glad he was able to finish off the 7th after walking a couple of batters. It looked like he was starting to run out of gas which is understandable this early in the season. I hope he keeps it up and finally gets over that hump this year. By getting over that hump, I mean staying healthy an entire season and pitching well on the road.

I loved the fist pump after his 10th K.
