I agree. If we had any plans of trading him, his trade value goes down with every pitch. I'd rather have Ricky Vaughn of the California Penal League.
Of course they are *now*. They certainly weren't when they started their run - they were something like 10 or 15 games under 0.500 at the time. And the White Sox are a hell of a lot better than Cincinnatti.
everybofy in the bullpen has been spectactular, not just tonight but recently, EXCEPT for Lights on who has been terrible. we come back to get within 2 o have a shot in the 9th and Lidge puts it out of reach. this thing with Lidge has to end.
The Lights are officially Out, folks. Well Mr. Lidge, despite your going to complete sh#t, i will never forget your run in '04, where for a few months, you were the best pitcher I have ever seen. Good luck to you, wherever you are traded to.
AHHHHHHHGGGGG!!!!! Lidge is done! At what point do the Astros say no mas to Lidge? Lidge's poor performance is the biggest dissappointment of the year more so than the hitting. This subject rates its own thread! I am now hating on Lidge.
But you know Garner's still going to back him up and refuse to replace him. This team is so hard headed sometimes it's amazing. We're in the 2nd half of the season and Lidge still looks like crap. There's no jumping to conclusions here. Lidge, for whatever reason, can't get it done and something has to be done about it. At some point you have to call a turd a turd.
Amazing, what was it 5 scoreless innings by the bullpen? Then out came lidge and he gave up 2 in the 9th. It was great to hear the boo's raining down on him while he was still on the mound. Then when he was pulled. Oh man. Please say he's on the trading block (though no one in their right mind would take him....unless for prospects or something...). I'm tired of seeing him on the mound. He is DONE here. I'll call it, put me on the CF.net Classic momments if he returns to his past glory. He was soooooooo damn good in '04, then all of a sudden....BAM!
Astros won't go anywhere this year if Lidge keeps pitching in critical situations. Never thought when Pujols smacked him last year that he would collapse like this thoroughly and this deep into the season.
was that eddie guardado or nolan ryan out there pitching in the 9th inning? i couldn't tell the way we were missing.
Albert Pujols, like Lawrence Taylor, ruined a career. Taylor broke both of Joe Theismann's legs and Pujols might as well have done the same to Lidge. There was no pressure on Lidge today. He came in to the game 2 runs down and he still pitched the game into the crapper. Lidge needs to be demoted. End of story.
The Brad Lidge I knew and loved watching pitch died October 17, 2005 at 10:37 Central Standard Time. The guy wearing his uniform today is a faint shadow of that man. And it's heartbreaking, because the old Lidge was as nasty as any closer who ever pitched.
I have actually stopped getting p.o. I think I am getting numb to these losses. Tell me you guys didnt think Aurilla was going to hit a two strike three run shot into the crawford boxes in the ninth. I did.
What's interesting is this game basically sums up what is wrong with us this entire season, from the starting pitching stinking it up to the poor hitting and rally killers to the closer blowing it completely... Ashamed Lidge had to go the path he did. Instead of being one of the most feared pitchers of the NL and was often compared to the likes of Eric Gagne (circa 2003-2004) and Mariano Rivera...he became a Mark Wohlers and is now another example of Steve Blass disease.
Uhmmm we do have a bunch of miner leaguers just swinging with their eyes closed...Lidge has dropped his stock way down.. Answer this ..Why in the hell would any GM want such a big contract for such a ****ty pitcher ? Remember folks Lidge started this string of hourendous outings in the playoffs last yr after Pujols hit that homer off of him. Its like a boxer..When he finally gets that one blow to the head hes just not as good anymore it slows him down...Goodbye Tejada or any other trades and thank you Mr Lidge
