The season is nowhere close to over if they lose tonight. And many times down the road this season, even if we're still in the race, there will be days where Cinci wins and we lose - that will be no different than if we lose tonight.

Minnesota made up 9 games on the White Sox in the last 13 days or so. There's way too much baseball to be played to say we're out of it with 60 or so games to go, especially when we play Cincinatti 6 more times this season. Weren't we something like 3 or 4 games back in '04 with a week to play?

I like what I am seeing with this team now. Over the last 4 games (including this one), 3 have been more than satisfactory offensively. The lone exception of course is the game that I decide to go to :( If this offense can put up 4-5 runs a game, our starting pitching is good enough to push us through (today's the exception in that respect).

If this team can score 4-5 runs, I am all for keeping this team the way it is. Let's not send our stud prospects out for a rental player. Of course the key is whether this team can score like it has been, of if all of this is a sick tease.

We know he stinks with the bat, but let's not underestimate the value of his glove to this team. Adam Everett does a lot of things on the field that go unnoticed, but are imperative to what little success this team has enjoyed.

He injured something on his leg (I assume the groin, it looked like it) running to first on his RBI single. Lane is playing first.

That's also why there was no pinch-hitter for Everett. They had to save Lane for the 3-spot in the order to replace Berkman, and had to save Bruntlett for the 9-spot to pinch-hit for the pitcher's spot. Lamb and Taveras had already been used. The only player available would be Ausmus, and he's not a significant enough upgrade to really think about it.
