As always, no PBP in the thread. If you need that try one of the game cast sites. Keep discussion to this series. The Red Sox have been scuffling a little but that offense can go off at any time. Over/Under Red Sox runs in this series: 24.5
Last time the Sox invaded, it was a freaking sauna in MMP...with the roof closed. They blamed the sellout crowd...never remembered it being so hot during the NLCS games in 04 and 05. Conspiracy theory was that Uncle D wanted to spike the beer sales so he turned up the heat.
I am extremely hard on Carlos and rightfully so but I have the give the guy his due when he does produce. Since May 1st... Carlos - .309/.364/.479 5 HRs 29 RBIs with 16 doubles...19 BB and 19 SO Lance - .238/.380/.497 12 HRs 36 RBIs with 3 doubles...36 BB and 32 SO He has turned his season around and while he isn't the guy we paid 100 million to, dude has been productive and regained some of his power stroke.
Bourn up to .290, OBP close to .360 and slugging over .400...VALUE. Oh and he is on place to score 105 runs.
Not a good play by Barmes, he really isn't a good baserunner. That said, glad he has begun to hit a little, like his defense but almost couldn't justify it with his lousy hitting. Sox getting Jarrod Saltalamacchia is why they are such a good franchise. Buy low and try to rebuild a once promising catcher. He isn't Mike Pizza but he certainly a decent catcher on the cheap.
Both pitchers running a high pitch count so far. That doesnt favor the Astros. But the 3-1 lead does
I think that's Bud's next big thing to work on the rest of this season. He needs to learn to be more efficient with his pitch count. Once he does that, as evidence by his matchups with AGonzalez, he could become the #1 guy the Stros will need.
He is mixing up his pitches better, but not throwing enough of them (other than his fastball) for strikes. Walking a few to many also.
