That can true of any team. Your top starter still hasnt found his groove and number two is injured again, and two of your best bats are on the DL. Any team would find it difficult to overcome that. It's August not October. But Im really wishing I could go back to June right now. This is not that fun to watch.
And a bullpen that is statistically and objectively bad. That's not going to change, and there's is nothing that is more demoralizing to a team than a bad bullpen.
The Rays aren't a bad team it's just been a really terrible series timing wise. We're all a little down after no trade at the deadline and getting it topped off with all the breaks going their way. Could really use a boost somewhere.
Who said we need a bullpen? Giles and Gregerson have been bright spots lately and Devo should get it turned around. Liriano, despite tonight, has been good against lefties all year. Harris could come back strong. Who's to say our pen won't be a strength in 2 months?
