I expressed concern before the deadline about attitudes in the clubhouse if mgmt did nothing for second trade deadline in a row. However, my biggest concern in that respect is impact on our ability to keep some of our core long term if they don't think mgmt here is 100% invested. But yeah, there might be some head shaking in clubhouse but still expected them to beat up on Pruitt. Overall, I've talked myself back from ledge since the deadline dud. If this team goes into playoffs with its allstars healthy then they have as good a shot as any to win it all.
Getting back Springer/Correa. Arguably the catalysts of team will be a huge boost to team morale. I definitely agree that it seems they are having a bit of letdown from deadline.
Well I am trying to latch on to the power of positive pessimism but the head shaking could spread like a virus. All it takes is for the guys not to toss water in each others face, or grab the batting helmet after a home run. All those little things build chemistry and comradery. Of course one could argue that if a little bit of adversity causes that then maybe it wasn't really there to begin with. But yes I am not only concerned about the immediate impact of standing pat for two years but also concerned when it comes time for Correa, DK, Altuve and the like to choose where they go. If they think that Crane only cares about being good enough to sell enough seats at MM to make a modest profit then as a player why would they choose to stay if the Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox and the like start whispering in their ear?
Starting to really miss Correa and Springer now. This offense is nowhere near as potent and historic with both of those guys injured at the same time.
