We basically had 3 aces on that team and while our offense wasn't good that season, it was better than this disaster.
Just got back from the game, some interesting tidbits - Aaron Brooks sighting - Carlos Lee actually hustling - Kepp beasting - Rays left bases load a couple of times - Crowd was terrible at first, then to be one of the better crowds all season Overall good game
Did anybody catch the entire Myers postgame? I only caught bits and pieces but it sounds like it was pretty amusing.
Myers seemed to be cracking jokes left and right. I turned up the volume and he was telling one of the reporters to get in his locker. No idea what was going on but it seemed to be good stuff. I think he may have been talking to Berman.
You would think a guy capable of playing 2B wouldn't matter. IIRC, he was a SS in our system, whom they didn't think could play SS in the big leagues. Berkman, Lee, & Pence are the only guys on our team that are going to even get 20HRs. Myers has lowered his ERA to 3.25. I really hope he can keep it that low, and we get a decent return for him. His WHIP is 1.41, so I doubt that ERA can hold over the course of the season.
Yea, the peripherals and his career numbers would suggest that he can't maintain that kind of ERA. Still, if he can stay healthy (mentally and physically) while continuing to pitch deep into games and eat up innings, there will probably be some interest.
I was reading about Eddie Gaedel today: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Gaedel Is there any reason the Astros couldn't field a team with 8 or 9 midgets on it? You'd score endless runs - it would fix the team's OBP problem. Fielding would be an issue, but at least they'd score a lot. Alternatively, keep a handful of midgets on the team and anytime you have bases loaded or need a leadoff hitter to get on, send him out there.
I'm just following the game online but Wandy had 2 outs, no men on then walked a batter, allowed a steal then hit the next batter in a 2-2 count. Next batter hits a double and 2 runs score. It looks like he was going good up to that point.
Lee pops out to 2nd to likely end our chances tonight. These struggles have to be weighing on him, even more than he's weighing on the left field turf.
