Altuve is equivalent to a puppy.

He loses control when he gets amped up and that's why he swings at balls 2 feet off the plate.

Has been so frustrating watching this team lately. Bullpen issues aside, the most glaring problem has been our inability to bring home runners. We can get on base but when we need that string of hits to break a game open we suck it up.

When does a trend become the norm? Can a funk like the one the Astros are in be explained by randomness and statistical deviation ? At this point I'm inclined to say no . I'm not sure if it is a problem with the physical construction of our team and we just have holes that have been scouted and are now being exploited .... Or if it is more psychological in nature aka playing situations incorrectly and not executing . I'd lean towards it being a combination of both . I think our players are mentally a bit tired and are having a hard time applying proper focus . Like other posters have said allowing this many early inning runs is a sign of bad things . Sure the team is young , but our veterans are not producing either . If the Astros lose this series it will take a lot of luck for us to make the playoffs .

With heart of the order coming up and Gallardo not exactly sharp this inning feels especially important in a game you have to win.

I don't buy the AJ reed hype . The idea that a rookie is gonna come in and be a key contributor down the stretch is a bit hopeful . He has a few things going for him , mostly that other teams haven't had the opportunity to scout him and so they might test him and he could make him pay . But the more likely scenario is that he will have to adjust to hitting major league stuff. The guy I'm pissed didn't get more of an opportunity this year is singleton , but that is another argument for another day .
