We don't have time to wait on Moran at 3rd and Reed at 1st. The Astros need to get above average regulars at both spots. Lind is very much available and has one year left, he can play first. As for 3rd they need to look at the market hard via trade. Lowry can play a utility type role getting 400 at bats. Stick Marisnick in center and let the DH be whoever is sitting that day unless you can get an elite hitting DH. The Astros have to look at catchers available if the right deal pops up. They have to target a legitimate closer. They obviously cannot do all of this, so they have to be flexible. No reason they cannot greatly improve their lineup. The clock is ticking for the Astros. They have Gomez for one more year, Springer and Dallas K are going to be getting more money and Correa is just waiting. I know some are calling to sign an ace, I think at this point the money is better spent elsewhere. We can trade at the deadline for another ace if needed.
I understand what you are saying, now Lowrie, he can't be our utility as we have Marwin who plays better defense and at least this year is hitting much better. Last year he hit about the same, so it looks like he is a .275-.280 hitter with an OPS of .725-.750, i like those numbers for a utility. If we can trade Lowrie, we should.
Hmmmm, whose better, Bannister or Hinch? Bannister takes the pitcher, who has struggled all night long after allowing 2 runs in less than 5 innings. Kazmir, well, Hinch took him after 5 runs in less than 4 innings.
You can take your chances, but I can assure you they will be trading more prospects at the deadline to acquire another Kazmir. It's just illogical to think that they felt the need (correctly) to trade for Kazmir as a rental at the deadline, and they would be fine with losing him in the offseason and replacing him with nobody, if they want to maintain the same postseason aspirations. Nothing has changed.
In before you laugh : Can/Will the Astros win 2 games to clinch a winning record? In the midst of this collapse, it's the least they can do, right?
8 guys LOB through only 5 innings. That's absolutely pathetic. That's what you get when you have a bunch of .220 hitters that stop hitting home runs.
A long time ago i said we were playing like 84 wins at the end. Right now, with 8 left, we have to play .500 for that!!!!!!!! Incredible.
Ugh... Just got home to watch... They doubled up the runs. Whelp... at least most of the season was pretty damn fun.
