Had a feeling the Rangers were due for an offensive explosion, but this meltdown has more to do with Lyles, sadly. Absolutely zero excuse to throw a pitch in the zone to a good hitter when you're up 0-2, and that's what he did to both Kinsler and Cruz. Now a 2-run single from an AL pitcher, and this one's pretty much over.
Lyles has been nothing sort of a disaster this inning. Mills may need to pull him early. 0-2 to the 7 hitter and he grooves one and then lets an American League pitcher get a 2 run hit. UNBELIEVABLE
So much for trying to enjoy an afternoon of baseball. Hopefully the offense can at least make it interesting
sure, but forcing the baseball teams of the houston astros and texas rangers into a rivalry that they never had is absolutely contrived. we were already playing them 6 times/year. is the exchange of giving up our history in the NL for additional 12 games with the rangers a reasonable trade-off? how cool would playing them 162 times/year be? rivalry would be stronger than ever. mlb rivalries are essential. just ask the yankees and the red sox. just ask the.....damn, the list begins and ends there. oh well, here's to the astros and rangers being the next yankees and red sox!
That 5 run lead is already so big, I am not sure we can pull this one out even if we keep the Rangers scoreless the rest of the way.
That's how the inning started, too... had Kinsler down 0-2, and hung a curve belt-high. Lyles should know better by now, though maybe his stuff is good enough in AAA that he can get away with it down there.
who can't hit like that when the pitcher is serving it down the middle. It's okay to pitch balls, lyles!
you aren't enjoying this?? come on man, it's the astros vs. the rangers. disparity in the teams talent and scores be damned! these are our rivals, man! does the silver boot mean nothing to you? do you have no soul?? don't you understand that run differential in our 6 matchups with them is the tie-breaker?? if you can't enjoy every second of this, what can you enjoy?
Sorry, I will suck it up and fall in line with what Commie Bud  Maybe I'll try and figure out if Happ will get a start in Arlington; that should be epic.
what is it with us playing the rangers at home on a sunday? it seems like we always get blown out on sundays at home to the rangers. remember jason jennings?
