I dunno when it's going to end (though last year he got hot after the all-star break), but I can say that I was a little nervous about his start tonight. Even though Pettite hasn't pitched in the AL in three years, the hitters are still gonna be a lot more familiar and comfortable with him than say Oswalt. Whether that has anything to do with his poor start I dunno, but it might. It's just tough to be an Astros fan in May.
These game happen from time to time. It's a long season, as long as we don't have a ton of games like tonight, we'll be fine.
Oh wow... So I had a dream last night that Andy signed a 3 year extension, and at the press conference Roger showed up and announced his return. It was only a dream. I feel so cheated.
We have the most toothless lineup. Is there any pitcher out there who fears Ensberg, Wilson, Lane? All of these guys should be batting 6th in a lineup, at best. Will we ever have a cleanup hitter? Why wasn't this problem addressed in the offseason?
Addressed how? Lane has been a touted organizational prospect, had a pretty good season last year. Wilson was a FA that we signed as a righty pull hitter to take advantage of the Crawford boxes, and he WANTED to play here. Ensberg was the best hitting 3B in the NL last year. What did you want?
Ensberg?? The guy is 3rd in the NL in OPS, and 6th in slugging. I'd say that's a pretty legitimate slugger.
Manny,Tejada, or Abreu. Ensberg is too streaky to anchor an offense, Wilson is a has-been, and Lane is a never-was.
Funny how you mentioned the three guys who have RBIs today. Ensberg is not a 6th spot hitter, unless it was on a STACKED AL team. Not that I wouldn't mind a Manny, Tejada, or Abreu.
Last time Manny changed teams: 2001 Last time Tejada changed teams: 2004 Last time Abreu changed teams: 1998 All of the above players have played for all of 2 major league teams. I want Bron on the Rockets. If it were easy, it'd be done. Great job by Buchholz today. He wasn't mistake free, but he's doing a better job keeping it down - the Rangers couldn't really elevate the ball, which meant even when they got solid hits, they were only singles.
**** i thought it was a joke, lol. forgot we played in the afternoon on sundays... nice to see us win a damn series for once.
What *all* Houston fans want: for the Astros to resurrect the Babe, sign Hank Aaron, Bob Gibson, and Stan Musial, trade for Tejada, and still retain the right to b**** and moan. It's not that hard. What's up Purp? What exactly did you do all winter long?
5 GB, already...ugh...after 19-9? I am tired of fighting for the WC, let's win a danged division championship. This team needs Roger Badly, because offense is not going to get it done, unless there are major changes. DD
