I don't think the 3B even planned on making the throw til he looked up and saw Lee so far from the bag. My guess is that Lee didn't run hard until he saw the ball bounce off the guy but the camera didn't show his entire run to 1st.

Even the Twins have been winning a lot recently and they've had 4 key players, including 2 former MVPs, either out of the lineup or struggling mightily for most of the season. Morneau has been a shell of his former self since the concussion and is back on the DL, Mauer has only played 9 games, Thome only 28 games, and Nathan hasn't been the same since returning from TJ surgery.

I know the Astros are terrible by why do I keep hearing in the media from guys like Richard Justice and Brian McTaggert how good a manager Brad Mills is? The guy is the manager of the worst team in baseball. I know Cecil Cooper wasn't the greatest terrible manager but he had a record of over .500 on some bad teams as well.

Well, on Mills, he seems to have a real level head and the kind of temper that will do him well. I think his domineer and work ethic is what impresses me most about the guy, don't really like the Terry Collins/Lou Pinella types but lots of different managers win. I do have an issue with him sticking with veterans a bit to much for my taste. If it means anything, for the first time, today I heard Justice say that Mills will probably be fired at season's end.

On Coop, I just don't think he is manager material. He had vastly more talent then Mills and clubs that, misguidedly, were intended to be competitive. He had Roy and Lance still at a pretty high level, Wandy coming into his own along with Randy Wolf and Hawkins being acquired. Tejada was past his prime but still very productive at short. He also had the good Carlos Lee, not the washed up version we have today. That said, he did well in 08 but it seemed most of the players hated him and won in spite of him.

On April 18, 2006 the Astros franchise reached .500 all-time for the first time since April 26, 1962 (6-6 all-time) at 3507-3507. Then they started their usual May-June swoon and the rest is history.

    Now they're 3837-3880 all time. :(
