Wow, the Rockies just hit a 3R HR to tie the Cards in the 8th. If you happened to miss it, they came back from down 6 in the 9th last night.
Wow. I remember watching the ending of their game last night on MLB Network, and heard JD mention tonight that the Rockies were down 3, basically saying they had 'em right where they wanted 'em. Sounds about right! Gotta love afternoon games in the Summer....can't wait for tomorrow.
Nope, it was a long time minor leaguer making his major league debut. Apparently, he threw 3 straight changeups and Iannetta had no problem getting ahold of the last one.
I don't see why the Astros shouldn't trade Hunter. If he can't improve his production and become a legit RBI man, then why should we settle for an average right fielder at a power hitting position. Since our "best" prospects in the minors mostly play in the outfield, they might be more inclined to trade him next year. It seems like he had a good debut but never really got better, it kind of reminds me of Emeka Okafor in basketball. At some point his arbitration money is going to outweigh his value. He really seems like a "sell high" type player. Lee should definitely get traded next year for anything. And Bourne probably should be traded the second we know that Jay Austin can play in the majors. It also really looks like Shuck will be a major leaguer in the near future. Hopefully JD Martinez is the real deal and can learn how to play decent defense. All and all, I wouldnt really mind if our entire outfield was traded within two or three years, its really our future infield that I'm worried about.
I wish I could doubt this. The Astros need to be on a five year plan since it worked so great for the USSR. Okay, bad example, but they still need a five year plan as they aren't going to be good anytime soon. As such, the Astros should be open to trading anyone over 24 for someone under 24. I'm thinking the Astros should try to load up on Class AA and Class A talent.
Shuck lacks the speed or power needed to be a regular OF in the ML. If he were a 2B he'd have a lot better chance at making it to the majors. Don't count on Jay Austin. He's still so young that you have to believe he can improve, but right now he just does not get on base enough.
Wow, checkout Berkman breaking out the thesaurus from Rice after last nights game... "We've had a dearth of them to this point in the season. Any time you can get four or five home runs in a game, we'll take it." You heard it right folks. Dearth. I personally felt this was the highlight of the season. This quote alone should save Berkman from being traded. Free BERKMAN (unless R2K neg reps me for the 80th time, lol).
It's between that and the practical joke they played on Bud Norris last night. He's apparently trying to sell his 1996 Acura. Someone on the team drove it into the outfield during batting practice and covered it in shaving cream. They were trying to help him raise the value...
Gwahaha... Dexter Fowler (who hit the 3-run homer you mentioned) is someone I recently added to my fantasy team, too! I watched the 9th inning last night since I have two Colorado players on my fantasy team (Olivo and Fowler). It was awesome. Poor Ryan Franklin.
Crap its Thursday. Forgot about it being a day game. Write it down for him tomorrow then. I'm just mad that me and Brooks predicted a monster June, and got a very mediocre one.
